ugly - does your list mean everyone started at nav of 10 bucks or did some of those folks have a head start??

[/ QUOTE ]

Rock, some people put in previously created ports they were running on marketocracy, rather than create new ones... if you go to the club page on marketocracy, and look at the 2+2 poker players club listing, you can view the public pages for any of the ports!

The general rankings page, is interesting to look thru also... they get some truly superior performance from some people there... including some with nice long term track records!

Once we get into April, and they do the March performance updates, the club ranking page will have meaningful percentages to compare performance.

Actually there are a few others that used already existing Marketocracy ports... most notably ramstone & tedtodd223.

Ramstone and tedtodd have great performance, just not as good as it looks relatively from the NAV #'s. If you pull up the club page, you can click on the port links in the club ranking page to see each ports public page.

For asi, I assumed owl just calculated the difference between the current port value and the Jan 1 value on that port [x= (current/Jan1)*10]

What's the stakes? Is this contest using real money or is it just for play?

This is a friendly competition using Marketocracy (play money) ports. You can setup a virtual $1 million account and manage it like a fund. There is no cost.

It's never to late to join in the fun, just setup a port on marketocracy and join the 2+2 poker players club on the club listing.

I believe the problem with that is that ASI gets the full use of over 1MM to gain his returns. Calculating his returns ex the pre-January returns is not quite the same as limiting him to 1MM in starting equity. He has a head start by virtue of a larger base.

Correct?

I'm not sure why he could not just establish a new name or start a new LONG portfolio under his existing Marketocracy name at the start of the 2+2 contest. BY doing it the way it was done (using his existing account) adjusting his 2006 return for the 2+2 contest seems non-trivial.

Having a larger port isn't really an advantage... he has to contend with higher costs (mgmt fee and transaction).

He also explained why he didn't start a new port in a message earlier in the thread.
