"I think Iverson would have been a good soccer player."

i would estimate iversons chance of having a career wiht a top flight european club like arsenal, manu or real as miniscule. id give him a 1% shot at making it in the lower level team like fulham or blackburn or hanover.

Curious why you think that? Or is this based on the difficulty of making it on a roster against a massively large talent field?

You know, it's really too bad Ronaldinho didn't find a basketball when he was younger, he obviously would have been the best point guard ever.

Peyton Manning is far from an athlete

WTF?

[/ QUOTE ]

Considering our widely held definition. I would stick by it. He'd get smoked in a combine.

this is mainly it.

secondly, actual foot skills are very hard to develop and at the highest level require talent that you simply need to be born with. maradona, cruyf, ronaldinho. they were born with it. obv foot skills are integral to being a great player.

so, to say that iverson would automatically have developed great foot skills is ridiculous. chances are he would not have.

tony sanneh is a physical beast. one of the fastest and biggest players in the game but his technique was poor and thats why he never advanced past middle level german club.

What kind of "widely held" definition makes any NFL QB (much less an HOF-caliber QB) not an athelete? Even "slow" NFL QBs are fast by normal people standards. He probably has great endurance, and the fact that he can throw a football far shows he's fairly strong. And, of course, he's tough, being able to take hits from much larger defensive linemen.

Not to mention that he's 6'5 with a laser, rocket arm.

[/ QUOTE ]yeah because if he hadn't found a soccer ball, its unlikely he would have played sports at all.

gusmahler,

Lets poll a hundred people or devise some test of "Athletic" ability. We'll run M Vick S Young and P Manning through them and see who is the outlier.

In everything that doesn't have to do with throwing a football... Its Manning.

Just because he's not as athletic as Young or Vick doesn't mean he's unathletic.
