Default Re: New Radiohead album - Pay what you think is fair??

I'll play with a new #1 ...

1. Hail to the Thief
2. OK Computer
3. Kid A
4. Amnesiac
5. The Bends
6. Pablo Honey
7. In Rainbows

Granted I have only listened to In Rainbows a few times now, but I agree with most that it is nothing all that fantastic, and has no song that has really grabbed me at all.

I do like the bass in 15 steps.

TT, i am 24 and got into radiohead with ok computer. i remember creep on the radio but i didn't have the album. i do have it on some old mtv comp from like 95 or whenever that was.

I think the difference is Radiohead fanatics in my age group (I'm as old as the band) got into Radiohead years before your generation did. They really are three different bands, the alt-rock band, the electronic band, and the alt-jazz inspired band that uses lots of synths. The 20-something audience came of age as Radiohead fanatics during Kid A - its the album they identify a signature moment in their life with.

TT,

wtf, i was just telling you that i got into them during their alt-rock phase. and you are like three times as old as me. so no, kid a is not the album that i identify more with a 'signature moment in my life,' i distinctly remember one of the first few times i was getting my dick wet i was listening to ok computer and trying to figure out the chord changes on 'no surprises' instead of shoot my wad. unfortunately that song has like three changes in it so it didn't take very long

also, i am enjoying 'in rainbows' so far.

every radiohead album since kid a, i have been like 'meh, it's interesting but it's no [name of last album]' the first few times i hear it. this one is kinda the same, but it's more palatable than HTTT was.

also, TT, i just realized you said radiohead sounds like an alt-jazz band, which is just befuddling, wtf have they ever done that sounded like jazz to you?

"Gotcha bitch!"

Radiohead is still going to release this album through a record label and they will have more content on that version than the digital versions available for download.

I will now go dl it and pay $0

I like it a lot so far. I agree that there isn't really one song that stands out but overall its a really solid album. Not as good as some of their older stuff for sure but I'm impressed.

I like the album, but I wouldn't pay anything for 160kbps. CBR
