On the topic of the magazine and things 2p2 has done poorly, they turned down an artcile submitted by Schneids because it was too strategy-heavy. Retarded--tarded once, then tarded all over again--Retarded.

[/ QUOTE ]

if this is true thats horrible. when the magazine started it was said that the goal was to be more about strategy and not little fluff pieces like cardplayer, but the fact is that its now turned into that same type of junk, and the response to the magazine has gone completely in the tank. If 2+2 would go to a very strategy heavy magazine and eliminate the nonsense articles, they would probably have great success with it. Also, why not look into offering a printed version of the magazine? This is even more promotion.

Also, why hasnt 2+2 done anything to use the high profile tournament success of someone like Greg Raymer and to a lesser extent Schneids, when I'm sure both would say that a huge part of their success was 2+2? You have commercials all over the place from PokerStars using Raymer, you'd think 2+2 would find some way to work out a deal with him to promote their books.

You've all ganged up on her because 1) she expresses strong opinions, and 2) she is Ed's wife.

[/ QUOTE ]

I just want to go on record and state that anyone who claims that part of this is because she's Ed's wife is going to have to explain why there were similar feelings towars Otis.

[/ QUOTE ]

1. Agreed

2. You've been saying "I just want to go on the record" a lot lately. Is someone keeping a 2p2 record? Should I start "going on the record" more frequently?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes, I'm keeping a log. Do you want this last post to be on the record or not? Come on, Man, I don't have all day.

the publicist was worse than useless. Whether a different publicist would have been more competent and achieved better results, I don't know.

Really? You don't want to take a stab and try "yes"? I bet there's a book publicist out there who could be at least useless.

[/ QUOTE ]

Is this the same publicist that Ed told the Queer Eye gang that he'd never met face to face?

They have that quote from Raymer on the back of some books, of course you have to already be holding a book to see that endorsement.

Maybe Mason should offer his consulting services to Pepsi, to aid them in the war against Coke. His first campaign could be putting a message on ever bottle and can of Pepsi that says, "Drink more Pepsi!"

LOL,

"I seriously doubt that Evan or any other random 2p2er knows better either"

I don't think we're saying really that WE know better. We're saying that somebody must, and it seems like it might make sense to attempt to get that kind of assistance.

Clearly some of those attempts (publicist, web designer) haven't worked. One of the things that's odd is that there are a ton of talented people here who feel some debt to 2p2. I think 2p2 could do a much better job of taking advantage of the skills of their readers. There's amazingly talented webdesign folks who would probably do a lot of work on the site for a minimal cost. From what you're saying, a lot of what's driven Mason is trying to keep costs low, and making use of all your available resources is a big part of that.

Out of curiosity, are you going to address my comment, or just stick with this?
