i had an 83.4 or something in this class, and an 85+ is an A...the teacher emailed us saying they had to recalculate the grades based on a policy error/change and everyones grades went up as a result of the error, but ppl who didnt make the cut of the next grade up cant complain cause of how much lower they were originally supposed to be.


Now I have an 84.9. SRSLY? [censored].

This reminds me of a drink-driving (I think Americans call it DUI) case here in Victoria several years ago. It may be helpful if you want to push it...

The legislation gave set levels for blood alcohol concentration (BAC) - it included a table something along these lines*:

Over 0.05% = 6 months license suspension
Over 0.06% = 9 months license suspension
Over 0.08% = 12 months license suspension
Over 0.10% = 3 months imprisonment
etc.

Now, a particular driver was caught with 0.053% BAC (or whatever). His lawyer successfully made the case that because the legislation was only written to two decimal points, his blood alcohol concentration must also be rounded off to two decimal places.

Consequently, the 0.053% was rounded off to 0.05%, and he received no punishment (the State Government subsequently sought a halt to all such cases, and fixed the law up for others).

You may be able to apply the same argument to your school....
