Often you don't have access to the shares immediately or are unable to sell them (as an employee) for a certain amount of time after you receive them. This varies from Co to Co. Last Company I was at, we weren't allowed to sell them for like - 2 weeks or somthing after the offering period. Current Company just takes a while to deposit them (shady bitches) which is, in effect, a black-out period (though not explicitly stated). [/ QUOTE ] I asked about this at my benefits orientation and there's no explicit blackout policy. E-mails I've gotten regarding the stock purchase plan say that shares are deposited into accounts "soon after the purchase date," so I don't know when that is. |

Re: ***SSNL LIFE THREAD***
goofy,
just remember that regardless of your company's blackout policy that you are still subject to follow the law regarding insider trading. In a nutshell you will be fine as long as you do not buy or sell when you possess information not publicly known, which, if it were to become publicly available could be expected to impact the company's stock price. For instance, if you hear that the company got a major new contract or is about to buy another company before it becomes available for public consumption and buy or sell stock based on that news, you are guilty of insider trading |

Re: ***SSNL LIFE THREAD***
Okay, I need a judge's ruling on something.
I'm trying to sleep with a chick from every country on Earth, and am having classification problems: #1: Born to Chinese parents in Hong Kong (when it was a Crown Colony, not part of China), moved to America as child and is now American citizen #2: Born in Ecuador to Ecaudoran parents, moved to France at 13, then America at 17, citizenship unknown (is legal resident of US, if not citizen) #3: Born in Poland to Polish parents, moved to Germany as teen, citizenship unknown (is legal resident of Germany, if not citizen) Help me out here, SSNL |
