Lol i guess I should explain. Been running sick hot at 50nl (as in 50c BB lol) and donkaments this month to the tune of ~6k. Went out for some drinks tonight with idiot friends, obv drank far too much then went out late at 1am, bar closed at 5am, still drunk and keen to drink more so went to casino, only place you can drink here after 5am. Got hell boozed, casino bar shut sometime after 6am, stumbled down to poker tables. Games going were 5/10 limit, 10/20 limt (meh limit) and a 5/10 half pot (wtf??) game. obv bought into the half pot game for 1k (100bb just like online LDO) Game is sick good, half table is drunk/rest would probs be better off if they were. 3rd orbit, 25 ppl limp in, standard, i complete in SB with KJcc. Flop Qc10h7c, BOOM!!, i lead for half pot called in 3 spots, Probs 50 into 100, folds to genius who re half pots to whatever it is, I rehalfpot he calls, turn 9, BOOM!!, I look at his stack and its like 3/4 of the pot left so I just half pot it, he shoves, i cum a little in my pants and snap call. (pot is ~1800 at this stage) River 9 he looks at me, I flip up my straight, he stares at the board and his hand for ~30 secs and then finally throws down q9o for the boat, I cry. Next hand I manage to get whatever I have left in front of me in pf with JJ vs 109cc and some other hand that doesn't show at showdown, 109cc obv makes flush and i leave 1k poorer. Come home sick tilted and decide I can obv move up to win back online. Play 10/20 win 600ish, obvserve the 25/50 game and see that guy is a massive fish and decide to risk 1k and have a go, lol 6 max tbl is min 2500, whatever I am drunk/tilted and I have a go. That hand happens and i end up +1219 online. $Us > $Aussie so net results is ++ for me. Had QQ btw and really wanted to flat flop and shove over his turn bet but too many sick turn cards and too much moeneys so i bitched out. It is now 8am and bed time for me.

lololol graph for the month, all 50nl before last few hands

Moral of the story kids, Don't (Do??) drink and gamble

[/ QUOTE ]

if you watch the CR pros (Derosnec specifically mentions Aba) they HARDLY EVER "try to outplay people". In fact, the opposite. Townsend is ALWAYS going on about just playing "good, solid poker". And I agree with Derosnec, I hardly ever see him making moves. He just seems to have a really, really solid value game (value in terms of betting when you are ahead of a range, and folding when you are not). In fact, the only CR vids I've seen where the tutor tries to outplay people are Tufats (and I think he is freakishly talented). I can't think of any of the others who do it regularly.

So, I guess I am more confused than before reading Clayton's post. Bah.

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually I'm confused about this too. In those videos, I ever hardly see anyone trying to push people off hands or make hero calls. I know that sometimes they say stuff like "Sometimes I'll 3bet this [marginal hand], but I'm just going to fold." or "I could bluff-raise, but I'm just going to let the hand go".

I'm not sure if they just do that for the videos or what, but it doesn't seem like they make these tricky leveling plays.

watch the videos again. this time pay attention to when the CR Pro bets. what has happened in the hand so far that has now led the CR Pro to bet? it can be a little subtle, even though the Pro is explaining his thought process. usually what you'll see is that the opponent has not shown (or has stopped showing) aggression or that the board has developed in such a way that opponent can't stand any more heat. and what about when the CR Pro folds? usually it is that his opponent has shown aggression and the CR Pro can't continue profitably.

what is interesting is how little floating/check-raising there are by the CR Pros. usually they want to be the agressor and remain the aggressor. they're not looking to make an aggressor fold his hand. it can be a subtle concept to grasp.

that's my interpretation of the videos, and, of course, i might be totally wrong on this. i'm going to rewatch a few of the vids tonight to see if i'm on the right track.

Here is another theory on that as well. They may not make the same plays they would in a game they are not making a video at for the sake of being harder to beat themselves. The people they play against on a daily basis have to watch these videos so that they can gain some insight to those guys thought processes and have a better edge since they know how they are thinking which is why I think they will not ball out and do everything they would normally do if the cameras were not on or if they were playing in their normal game/stakes.

Besides most of us, myself included, are so far away from being able to understand or execute some of the plays that they themselves do so it pretty much doesn't matter if they do it or not. In fact for us it is better that they do not go into how they really play so we will not try and go apes__t imitating it and losing mad money and not renewing our membership every month.

the problem with that theory is that Aba, CTS, GP, and the players on Sotxpoker (have membership there too) would have to all follow that theory because they all play in the same way (the way I described). I think that might be unlikely.

After making my previous post I watched some of two vids: one by CTS and one by Aba and it seemed to confirm what I said earlier (though that might be cognitive bias). I'm not saying that's the way to play at 50nl; just commenting on how the pros play.

I saw the coaching review thread in SSNL and I read that the mgmt doesn't let coaches advertise in threads, but is there a place where I can request coaching or do I just have to go through the thread and send out a bunch of PMs?
