the idea is that sinkerballers thrive on keeping the ball down, and do better at this when they're tired.

i have no idea if this is true or not, but it seems to me like keeping the ball down is something most pitchers thrive on, and it's also one of the first things you struggle with when you get tired. but i am not an expert on pitching mechanics.

guidry has said that wang is actually somewhat too strong for his stuff. perhaps he gets a better sink when he throws 92-93 rather than 94-95.

As an aside I will lose respect for Torre if he comes back next year. I can't imagine working with a boss who tells me my performance is so bad that if I don't do my job exceptionally well tomorrow I'm fired. Especially given all the years he has put in with the Yankees.

The "that's just Steinbrenner for you" explanation is wearing awfully thin.

can someone explain to me how almost hitting Hafner in his giant elbow pad keeps the lefties from leaning into the plate? Worst thing that can happen is he gets a base...

Cleveland's usage patterns don't reflect a huge disparity given that Borowski's QERA is under 4 and their relievers are otherwise deployed in a reasonable pattern with better results than the Red Sox pen.
