Slowing up the game (especially in tournaments with a running clock) to negotiate insurance terms should not be allowed.

[/ QUOTE ]
What tourneys are you playing that allow any sort of negotiation?

Every pro played badly. These guys should be embarrased to be called poker players. When I watch HSP I usually cover up the hands so I can guess by their play. I am correct 90% of the time (because a few times I didn't get the suits). My .10/.25 game online destroys this. Every hand consists of bad raise, bad call, bad bet, bad fold, bad beat. BRING BACK PHIL IVERY

Do you mute it as well?

LOL @ People comparing Baxter calling A9 against a tilting Sammy Farha no look random hand to any other situation in the history of poker.

Yeah I'm sure Baxter is a fish who would have snap-called Jennifer Harmon in the same situation. Good God.

I've yet to see any evidence that Baxter isn't one of the better players at this table.

Also lol at the level 11 posts ago.

I would love to watch a .10-.25 NL player sit down in this game...without wearing a diaper. Hahaha. Get a grip. These people did not get rich playing poker by accident.

What is with all these ppl who think they are god's gift to poker? You watch a TV show, see some pros mess about for TV, conclude they can't beat 50NL. Fact. Simple. QED. ...
I remember there was a lot of criticism regarding Lindgren's AJs fold with TPTK v Sammy's flush draw and everyone was like 'OMG how do u fold that it's like a massive favourite v Sammy's range'. (Of course if he shoved I imagine this forum would've been full of 'OMG how do you shove Sammy obviously has JJ+'). Here we see essentially the same situation, the opposite play, yet the same criticism.

[/ QUOTE ]
Excellent post. You nailed it - people here will criticize anything for any reason, making up whatever logic is necessary to criticize. Almost every possible decision is wrong and donkstatic.
[ QUOTE ]
You couldnt be more wrong. Constantly taking -ev insurance is stupid plain and simple. Running it twice while its boring to watch makes sense. Throwing money away on insurance is a terrible move. Slowing up the game (especially in tournaments with a running clock) to negotiate insurance terms should not be allowed.

[/ QUOTE ]
I agree. Hellmuth has got to have thrown away hundreds of thousands in insurance spreads over his life. Insurance only makes sense if you are risking a huge part of your bankroll. For Hellmuth it's just dumb, and hard to understand - TV time is one explanation, but I have the suspicion Hellmuth has asked for insurance like this plenty of times when no cameras were around. Maybe it's just something pscyhological, as has been discussed. Maybe he finds insurance more "exciting" than the actual game!

Jennifer Harman needs one beer to get going.

[/ QUOTE ]

LOL! I used to date a girl who was just like that.

Before Beer - "No, sorry, I'm just not in the mood..."

One Beer Later - "In the butt? Oooo, that's so naughty... Let's do it!"

Harman is like one of those uber nits at my tables with 10/5/3 stats, if she bets, just get out of the way.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm pretty sure this is the impression she wants people to have of her. She clearly plays much tighter on TV than in her regular games, in which she has a lot of fold equity from oblivious people who think "she's tight, she must have me" and muck. If you listen to Todd Brunson and Howard Lederer , they'll tell you something different about how loose she actually is.

Oh, that's just nasty.
