luego,

Do you seriously believe there is a shortstacking crisis and more short stacks come out of the woodwork everyday? I go to a local 2/4 NL game sometimes and EVERYONE buys in short there and no one even understands what they are doing. You really think this is different online?

In my experience there are only a handful of people with the will and motivation to play solid short stack poker, and the rest of them are just donks handing out money.

If you want to campaign for something I think it should be for higher minimium buyin online/real life games.

In terms of what range I should call against etc, all I do is look at their PT stats and then play off whatever that range is in pokerstove. Usually they adjust looser to me so I usually call all the borderline hands. I don't think we need to talk about what ranges to call their shoves with in X position all you have to do is datamine and look at their positional stats in pokertracker.

Ok.

So I spite call sometimes.

But only sometimes.

Also I think its clear that you should be opening for 2.5BBs versus a short stack and regular stack blind I just don't b/c I would have trouble keeping up with my tables without using the pot button.

Playing tournaments or just running a lot of pokerstove helps with owning the short stacks. It is not too hard for a good player to adjust, but it amazes me that most don't. People seem to do ok with preflop decisions, but there are also profitable spots postflop when they either call your raise, or you call theirs and get it in on the flop. Bld had a good post in NVG a while ago, and he laid out 3 things to do which I always keep in my mind against these guys.

its not a campaign. i do think its in all of our best interests that people dont play like complete dogshit versus the shortstackers. shorties at my table means i have to alter my game plan and i really dont want to do that.

i haven't commented much in these threads before because i hadn't played enough online to experience this epidemic (lol).

in the past 3 months i have played a lot online. here are my comments:

1. i have not played with a shortstacker below 10/20 who had any idea what he was doing.

2. over the 3 months i have spent less than 10 minutes total thinking about any major strategy adjustments vs these guys yet they give me zero problems.

3. i have been angry maybe twice as a result of any action by one of these morons. that anger dissipated right about the time i realized i would be getting the money back soon.

4. i guess i am happy that they cause so many of the "better" players so much stress.

Great assessment. I agree 100%>

This is a great thread, I think the next thing to do is lets open up our PTs and analyze the ranges and tendencies of the most annoying SSers on the major sites and post them in a single thread. Time to put these cockroaches down once and for all.

i would love it if you did this about me. it would be both informative and entertaining. i got a good kick out of that comment about imsakidd shoving A4o.

the only problem is if smart people posted in the thread it might be informative for other shortstackers as well. but seeing how few smart people have posted in this thread (vanveen basically being the only reply that said anything informed and potentially useful), maybe i shouldn't worry about that.
