Did the Binion's employee pay for the bag from the gift shop, or did he steal that also ? How did he head for the Philipines, on foot ?

.... like the part about how the Hotel did not give him a new room, or that his Host said he was "busy" and would get to it on Monday ?

Personally, I like the part about how he "posted" $40K, which MEANS the $40K was put into the casino cage, NOT into his room safe. (The guy does not know what it means to "post" money.)

Good catch.

Posting money means it is deposited into the CASINO CAGE, not put into a hotel room safe. The player posts the cash with the cage and can draw against it by filling out markers at the tables.

"Important to the story" is wrong, try "fatal to the story".

I was under the impression that the highest status at a Harrah's hotel was "Seven Star." Diamond is below that.

Not that it matters.

My opinion is that you are SOL. And it's going to get worse with attorney's fees.

I recently learned how to pick locks. When I showed a friend how easy it was to pick a master lock and then her front door lock, she got really scared.

"Wow, that's reassuring."

I imagine that those cheap room safes are just as easy to open once you learn how.

They have those in room safes at the Commerce Club Hotel. I left 5K in it one day while I went somewhere, but I felt really nervous about it. That was the last time I left money in the room safe.

I don't see you winning this. I hope you do, but it doesn't look good.

Good luck.

Miss Manners' writing is a lot funnier than anyone here. She was great.

Amongst all my other observations I forgot to comment on this one.
Yeah, this seemed strange to me also.
After having the room messed up like that it shouldn't have been such a big deal to go to the front-desk and ask to speak to the manager and et a new room.
Or that housekeeping needed to get up there right-away to make-up the room all nice and neat again.

I also agree with the idea that C.S.I. jumping onto this case seems stragnge but I'm willing to suspend belief on that one because I really don't know much about CSI teams, etc. Just seemed odd to me.

Regarding his use of the term 'post'.
Perhaps he just mis-used the word after he picked up the money he had wired to himself there or picked up at the cage or something. I assume it meant that he showed his host how much he came to gamble with or something? But I really don't know how that stuff works.
If this is correct and he just used the wrong term then no biggie.
Afterall, the guy also wants to donate to "Anti-up for Africa" or whatever it is. If he can't even spell 'ante' correctly then I certainly can believe he would use the wrong term when describing receiving or showing his money upon checking-in.

But if his myspace page is a big old spam-fest and it really appears that he's just making a big story to try to draw attention to his affiliate business then one definitely begins to wonder. haven't checked out his myspace though.

I understand OP's frustration. But anyone can ask you questions like

1. Can you prove you actually had $32K cash in the safe? Why not $19K, $55K ...?
2. Can you prove the cash (if there were any) in the safe was actually stolen by someone?

You decide to sue Rio. How much you will spend on attorney fees? Is that +$EV?

On the other hand, can you,at least, use the lost $32K for Tax write-off? (In another word, will IRS "buy" this as gaming lost?)

As far as I can see, the only thing that Harrah's have done wrong is not moving you to another room while the CSI was going on.

Casinos attract the lowest form of lowlife and degenerates who would not only trade their grandma for one last hand of blackjack, they would throw in grandpa for free. They have to assume that anybody who claims money was stolen from them without substantial proof is lying until proven otherwise. I imagine they have experienced dozens of situations where somebody has lost a load of money that they couldn't afford to lose, panicked and faked a robbery to try and get it back. Giving you your money back here would be like putting up a big billboard outside the casino saying 'free money, apply within'.

It doesn't matter how much money someone earns per yr...Stealing is stealing!!

It's the principle of the matter and with a hotel chain this large ...when they have safes in the suites ...they should take care of their guests alot better than what they are doing..security wise as well as inform the guests when they check in that the safe is only insured for $750.00 ...have them to specifically sign that they have been informed! I think the disclaimer being in fine print on the fire escape plan is a joke! Wouldn't a disclaimer on the safe be a little more noticable to the guest?? To me it sounds like they don't really want the guest to know.

I think Harrahs should be held responsible for their lack of security and information!

Just remember... if you go to Harrahs...don't take over $750.00 cash with you!

Rakeking, I think you are within your full rights to ask that Harrahs return the money that was stolen from you...go get them!

So, put less than $750 minus hotel room cost in the safe is profitable?
