It costs you nothing. It's exactly the same as sitting on your couch and watching TV.

[/ QUOTE ]

OBVIOUSLY U KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ANYTHING BECAUSE I'VE NEVER LOST 250,000 DOLLARS WATCHING TV SO IT'S NOT EXACTLY THE SAME, MORAN!

just bringing up an example of variance and required return based on it. Most ppl would consider it a horrible deal and would take a huge -EV cut just go get away from that type of variance. But sure, grims a effed up guy so it ifs fun for him he should do it.

[/ QUOTE ]
you do understand that the premise of this whole fiasco is that he was flipping coins for thousands of dollars, right...?

[/ QUOTE ]

ya, im agreeing with you. its completely EV neutral. Im just making an observation on how most ppl demand compensation for variance whereas Grimstar actively seeks it out. Also, link to how this all strated plz.

TWP,

Your comments in this thread really surprise me. Even ignoring rake which is obviously trivial, do you think flipping is really 0ev? If you answer, make sure you take taxes, game selection (eg games he would be +ev in that he's no longer rolled for), investments, utility (even though different then EV it's still related), and other things into your response.

That said, it's grim's money and I could careless what he does with it. The string of bad luck he had was truly remarkable, but even that said, even if had won 300k instead of lost 300k, that gain wouldn't help him as much as how much the 300k loss hurt him, and my hunch is that it wouldn't be that close either.

I can't believe you told your dad that you lost that much money flipping and he didn't put you in the car and drive you directly to GA, do not pass go, do not collect $200k

[/ QUOTE ]

His father was playing as the tophat, not the car.

My friends thought i was stupid when i flipped a coin with one of them for £1. God knows how people who know me would react if i flipped coins and lost $250k - there is no way you can explain variance fast enough to them.

Grimm, if you do this again, you should consider putting a stop loss of like 100k - i mean at what point did you look at it and think "crap, this is a lot of money ive lost" or did you just play on till you busted your FTP account?

Lol @ balla comments. Buying a $250k car is baller. Putting a $250k deposit on a beeeeg house is baller. Losing $250k flipping coins is not baller.
