I have always been a big tipper on restaurants (30-40%) and as I think about it what did I realy get for that? Did they even remember me? Will my life be any better beacuse I tip big?

HOLY CHRIST! Speaking as a former small-time restaurant critic for the Boston Globe, YOU ARE INSANE. The only time I've EVER tipped 25% is when the waitress showed me her tits - in the kitchen.

one point that hasn't been brought up here is the quality of the dealer performance. Now flame me if you disagree, but I think this is by far the worst dealer's performance at an WSOP ever. In the O8 event, there were dealer's who had never dealt the game before and weren't aware that you had to use 2 cards.

Additionally, some dealers were so ridiculously slow it definitely affected play. Now I know there were some great dealers, there, especially the ones who camre from Tunica, but as a rule I thought they weren't as good as the ones I see every week in Chicago.

generally people toke better at single tables. like, $50 or more, because most don't get paid much to deal those. that's the way it is at MOST rooms...

reguardless i guarantee you that dealer was bitching later.

Default Bad beat, the dealer

There is more to the job of dealing poker than just pitching the cards.

If we do not do our job properly, which includes all the above and more, then our job is in jeopardy -- tipping or no tipping.

I would love to see someone like yourself try to be a professional dealer. Then you would realize that, for various reasons, we are computing the expected tips into our expected fixed income, which is why we get upset when our real income falls short of expectation.

More discussion can be found at why are winners expected to tip at all?
