Re: assani
I've felt Assani was a troll well before the counting thing.
- he constantly does little things like the counting to draw attention to himself, and then refuses to explain things only furthering the attention. - his sports posts are rife with intellectual dishonest and twisted stats to support his opinion. - many of his threads simply consist of him belaboring an argument for the sake of argument. Mostly though, my point is that overall, we need not be so black and white when we mod. |

Re: assani
i agree with dids that mods should be willing to use subjective judgment more often. but OOT is also the type of forum that has had that type of culture for a long time, and users expect it. i think the degree of subjectivity depends heavily on what the forum norms and preferences are.
which is why i am trying not to make my disagreement with meb over sports into a big thing, because most people in that forum are very happy with him and his style, and that's the main thing. i would like to see some minor changes, and i am a frequent poster there so it's not like i am just telling him how to do his job from an outside point of view, but it's not like it stops me from posting there and i am clearly in the minority in my opinion. i think you use too much subjective judgment in BBV, dids, and i have been too arbitrary and subjective at times in OOT myself. it really depends on the forum. |

Re: assani
[ QUOTE ]
Aside from anything that happened with me here, I'm concerned that many of us are so at each other's throats. They'll always be arguements, but it almost seems like it's at a point that it's become a real problem for the environment here. This needs to be more fun. Why do you guys think that is? Is it just that some views are so radically different, or is it more straight animosity between mods? Personally I think we should be more respectful of each other and not neglect that there are real people behind these avatars. I include myself with that too. Maybe we just need more ice cream? I don't know... [/ QUOTE ] My perception is that there's a lot of personal animosity between some individual mods and groups of mods. Many of the disagreements here stem from that. I wish I had a great suggestion to resolve it, but I don't. One side is for tougher modding with the argument that it improves forum quality. They've demonstrated that this can be effective. The other side takes infractions less seriously and values the overall contributions of individual posters as a whole, rather than focusing on ten crappy posts out of 100. Much of it is individual taste. This meta theme has a bunch of sub themes, whether profanity has a place here, what pictures are sick or lol funny, etc. Frankly, I see both sides of the argument, though my personal preference is to draw a big line for anything in poor taste, (permas for horse porn, etc.), with more leniency for individual quirkiness or just poor content, (lock or delete rather than bans.) I hesitate to wade into the fray, being aware that I probably have the easiest mod-walk here when the WSOP isn't in full swing. Also, I don't have the desire or the energy to make enemies over items I deem not critical in the scope of real life. |

Re: assani
basically i think most of the mod animosity boils down to people thinking they are more important than they are. some mods try to do their job within their own forums and give helpful suggestions to others. some mods think they should run all of 2p2 regardless of whether they post in each forum or not.

Re: assani
This is now officially funny to me.
EVERYBODY here is being way too [censored] serious. I'm re-modding Yeti whether he likes it or not. EDF will continue as it always has been. Nobody but Meb will ban Assani unless he screws around in a different forum. everybody needs to lighten up. you know what i see when i read assani: ASS an I. haha |

Re: assani
Dammit. Ryan posted something here, and I was gonna reply, and he deleted it.
supermods he mentioned? ah, maybe. I'd welcome trustees from the non-mod poster pool to be able to read and comment in here too, to keep it saner. People like SamJJones, suzzer and suchlike - who've been around a while and are sensible and solid. Green em if you like but they don't have a specific forum, could be a way to do it. |

Re: assani
Deleted because it's almost an entirely different subject. But regarding super mods I was talking about what Mat mentioned in the other thread.
