cpitt,

"I went to a division 1 school as alluded to in the previous post"

[ QUOTE ]
Coaches teach at JUCO, DII/DIII, NAIA, and small program DI but that isn't what we are talking about.

[/ QUOTE ]

I can quote the entire post if you would like but I would like for you to show me where I said you didn't go to a D1 school?

My post still stands. Big time coaches in big time programs don't have time to be in the classroom, they are paid to recruit and to coach and that is it...sucks to be the small fish in the big pond and have to teach but this isn't the way in the Big XII/10/Pac 10/ACC as well as any big program.

Anyway, we are way off track--let's not hijack this thread...I have to watch ep3 anyway.

College coaches don't teach, they aren't professors. This statement is pretty wrong.

I liked this episode, really thought the Church scene was pretty bad though as others have mentioned.

Also thought Riggins line to her was pretty awful, unless it was just supposed to be a line, then it's not so bad.

Thought the scene with Saracen and Smash in the parking lot where he sees Julie getting into the Van with the Swede was pretty brutal, definitely felt for him there.

the show is really great. yes the pilot wasn't the best (the dizzying hand cams have a lot to do with that), but the writing, and acting is some of the best on tv.

connie britton, and kyle chandler, are both fantastic actors.

spoiler.

season 2 is very strong as well. I really like how tyra is fleshing out. however, the whole murder thing is a little ridiculously over the top, given how intelligent some of these characters are. but on whole, the acting is even better than before.

ep3 was really great and love that it moved everything along.

The in-house caretaker chick is basically on a silver platter, all Saracen has to do is grab a knife and fork...man I hope he does, serious upgrade from Julie.

lol @ Riggins. "Mexico huh?"

The Mrs. Coach scenes were excellent this week, I love how real everything is--when Julie and her mom were on the front lawn after being drug out of the Swede's van I was thinking, "man I would want to slap the [censored] out of her," and then wham she slaps her.

And I really like the Landry/Tyra stuff, he has the girl but I want him to keep her.

The two things I don't like about this season is Landry playing football--seems like filler, no point and Lyla becoming a cult member. Don't get it twisted though I still <3 Lyla.

I always end up catching the next week on FNL and it always tilts me so hard. It's not like LOST where they have really vague "NEXT WEEK A SECRET WILL SHAKE THE ISLAND (pause) FOREVER" they just give really specific info to keep the stupid fan base coming back.

[/ QUOTE ] first, he saw his "nerd" loser friend become one of the most popular kids in school because of football. So why not try himself. I figure this is pretty popular to do in high school. Also since when is church a cult? lol
