Why do you buy in max if apparently ratholing is advantageous? Last I checked, poker is all about the money. Its not about just playing a friendly card game...

Oh thats right, because buying in max is optimal for your style of play. Well guess what, ratholing is optimal for their styles of play.

Adjust when needed? Thats what I heard all the greats do.

[/ QUOTE ]

thats not the point.

the point is there is an inherent and exploitable advantage by shortstacking because the minimum buyin is far too low.

i dont think anyone should be able to win primarly based off of a flaw in the system. we are trying to correct that flaw by raising the minimum buyin. we arent saying oh hes good at shortstacking so lets not allow that cause we dont like it. sure we dont like it, but thats not the reason we want the min buyin raised.

wow, some of you completely misunderstand ethics, you really think ethics is 'what is allowed or not', which is absolutely isn't - assuming a perfect law system (which we lack), what is ethical also falls outside of what is legal - even aside from ethics, the reason why ratholing isn't allowed in live games is because it kills action, even beyond the unethical nature of not allowing an opponent to 'win his money back'.

Just curious, are you allowed to use a computer while sitting at a live game, u known to access poker stove and the like?

Also, at a live game are you allowed to double up and then give up your seat and get back on the wait list or move to another table and buy in for the minimum again?

why do you continue to argue that something else is more wrong to try and counter argue against this.

if you want, why dont you start your own little petition and try to get pahud banned. it is not pertinent here.

because many of the people who biotch about shortstacking use their own tools, etc to get an unfair edge and that makes them uber hyppocrites.

And leaving a table and getting back on the wait list and buying in for the min again is not ratholing. Ratholing is taking money off the table while still actively playing.

You don't even need to look at it ethically, but rather from a principle of creating a good game.

Does the first item kill action? No. In fact, it may very well encourage action that otherwise wouldn't happen.

Does shortstacking kill action? Absolutely. FlyingStart's post was excellent on the matter.

It's really no matter, since the federal government and multi-tablers have mined the fish pools to near extinction.
