Re: Official NE Patriots gogogogo to the SB thread
Lame straw-man argument. I don't care what his exact motives were. The replay clearly shows it was as blatant of a cheap-shot as you'll see in the modern day NFL outside of that Titans dude stomping on somebody's face. That is all.

Re: Official NE Patriots gogogogo to the SB thread
And you can keep using the term "straw-man argument" as if that somehow automatically makes you win, but I"m not quite sure how it even applies here.
Then again, I didn't think the Palmer injury two years ago was intentional either. Maybe I'm just naive. |

Re: Official NE Patriots gogogogo to the SB thread
MacGuy you are clearly wrong. There is no way in hell Wilfork tried to hurt losman. Wilfork was blocked into Losman if you look at the replay. Trust me, if the pats were going to try to hurt a QB, there is no way in hell it would be losman, we would try to do it to someone like Manning.

Re: Official NE Patriots gogogogo to the SB thread
another solid win last night. The Bengals at this point aren't a great or even good team, but beating average teams on the road is never a gimme.
what was really odd last night was the Bengals LB situation. how in the world do you go into the game with only 4 healthy LB's? the in-game injuries are bad luck mostly, but better roster construction would have helped them out. they wouldn't have been forced to play nickel and dime on all downs, which would them at a huge disadvantage. the Bengals were able to move the ball well enough to score 20 or so points, but made mistakes or bad plays at the wrong times. Peyton is less likely to make those mistakes than Palmer. on the bright side, the pass defense should get a nice boost from Rodney's return this week. offensively, things looked good. some untimely penalties spoiled drives. Brady made 1 bad throw which led to s short field/the 1 Bengal TD. otherwise they ran often and well, and passed with good efficiency. Sammy Morris looked great, stiff arming some defenders that need tackling practice. that 1 play on the sideline that got challenged was ridiculous - what a stiff arm. also, good to see Merriweather make some good plays. he stuck TJ good a couple times. if there ever was a time for a let-down game, I think it would be this week. having to play after a road Monday night game against an underrated Brown team, before a showdown on the road against Dallas. btw, Randy Moss just tied the record for TD receptions/year in the Brady era. 7. |

Re: Official NE Patriots gogogogo to the SB thread
Weakest win of the season tonight. Didn't get to watch any of it, but 34-17 against the Browns doesn't really cut it. Moss didn't break 50 yards, I don't know how they're going to do at the Cowboys.

Re: Official NE Patriots gogogogo to the SB thread
I agree it was their weakest win thus far. Particularly on offense. Lots of 3-and-outs, red zone production not very good, not moving the ball as consistently as the first 4 games. If it hadn't been for the 4 Cleveland turnovers, it might have been a very close game.
On the other hand, you know you're talking about an elite team when the offense has an off day and you still win 34-17. |
