Anyone think it'd be worth spending almost possibly 3k-4k on a stereosystem for my next car that I get? I really wanna go big with this next one... I dunno it's just a thing I have for having the loudest car in the area. It's either go big or go home this time around.

Just shove the river. You're missing a lot of value from a lot of Kx hands by not shoving, which are pretty much the only ones that will call any bet here.

Anybody willing to trade around $90 on FTP for $90 on Stars? I could really use the little help here. Contact me through private messages if willing to help. I will get back to you by within a few hours. I may even give you $5-$10 for helping.

HBomb - sorry to disappoint - yeah - am still at uni - and no kids etc....

Also - having trouble with some EV calculations - would be great to get some help.

So:

In this thread, fim talks about making AI semibluffs and says this:

[ QUOTE ]

First let's look at the PSR (pot sized raise). this is generally more than we will raise most often (if the pot is 100 and he bets 100 then a PSR is a raise to 400), but it makes the math easier. then we'll go back and look at smaller raises (like say 3/4 or 2/3 pot) like those we typically make.

A PSR has us betting 4 to win 2 (we offer our opponents 2:1 on their call. if our all-in is roughly a PSR (say moving 200 into a PSB of 50) then we can use the equities of various draws to calculate folding equity we need to make them neutral EV.

1/3 equity draw (standard flush draw vs TPTK/overpair)
EV = 2x + (1-x)((1/3)(10)-4)
EV = 2x + (1-x)(-2/3) [you can think of -2/3 as the long term "cost" we pay every time we get called]
0 = 2x + 2/3x -2/3
2/3 = 8/3x
x = 2/8 = 25% of the time they must fold in order for this to be profitable.

[/ QUOTE ]

so looking at the first line of the equation - where x is the % of time we need a fold - we win 2BB x times + (1-x)((1/3)*pot)-bet) - i.e. when he folds we win 2BB and when he calls we win the (pot - our bet) 1/3 of the time.... but where does he account for the fact that 2/3 of the time we loose when he calls?

Surly it should look something like: EV = 2x + (1-x)(((1/3)(10)-4) - ((2/3)*4)) where the (2/3)*4 accounts for the fact that when he calls 2/3 of the time we will loose 4BB...

I realise that this is really noobish - and that fim is clearly right and that I am missing something blatant - but I am trying to get my head around EV and its giving he a headache.
