just curious what you guys think...

ethical or unethical: switching seats when a seat opens up in the middle of a session to get position on a tough player

[/ QUOTE ]

I wouldn't do it if it's a reg who you are going to face alot and you are only doing it because of him.

But it's certainly OK to do.

I seat hop to get better position on donks all the time and I think there's absolutely nothing wrong w/ it. I've also never had anyone complain to me in chat about it or anything, which they prob would if they thought it was an unethical thing to do.

Really don't get why people call it unethical

Perfectly acceptable to change seat imho.

100% fine i do it all the time, theres no barrier to switching to an open seat at the casino

[/ QUOTE ]

while this is true, in low limit casino games, people will switch seats because they feel their current seat is unlucky...they're not switching for strategic purposes

[/ QUOTE ]

claim you are switching because your seat is unlucky
move to the left of the tough player
?????????
profit

[/ QUOTE ]i dont think it really matters, when you sit down at a table of 3 you choose the best seat available to you, i dont see any ethical barrier to improving your situation, and once you establish a precedent the opponent will obviously do the same to you if he feels it is in his interest and takes the time and effort to do it.
we're all here to maximize our ev and seeking positional advantage is within the spirit of the game imo.
id like to see a decent argument against this though

then again i think shortstacking is ethically ok even though i dont really like it personally(i mean you trickysarahalolo and voronin) and i know a lot of people think shortstackers are satanists

Sure sure. I do that too vs bad players.

But, the way nicky asked the question...i'm sure he wouldn't like it if I moved every time a seat came open on his left.
