[ QUOTE ] If I dedicate the rest of my life to being basically the best person ever (I give all my money to charity, I travel the world helping people, etc.), I will go to hell but a religious serial killer will go to heaven? that is [censored] up and I would never be a part of a group that believes that can't you see that beliefs like that are only in place to coerce everyone into becoming church members? like "ohhhh join our club and it's instant heaven." [/ QUOTE ] God is kind. His kindness is shown specifically in two ways here: 1) He's kind in forgiving the serial killer and 2) He's kind in giving you time to figure out how much he loves you, too. [/ QUOTE ] you are not addressing the issue at all. God apparently would forgive everything I do, but he won't forgive the fact that I'm not baptized?? He can give me all the time he wants but I'm never going believe in a group that allows a non-religious Mother Theresa type to burn in hell while some religious murderer is rewarded with everlasting peace in heaven. aahah i cannot believe anyone would think that, that is so [censored] up |

But that doesn't deal with foundational truth of God's holiness. God is 100% holy and his standard for those who enter his presence is 100% perfection, 100% of the time. This basically, then, rules out everyone, even Mother Theresa. But not only is God holy, he's just. And, of course, infinite justice also rules out every single human, since allowing the guilty to go free is certainly not justice. What it is, is mercy. And God is also infinitely merciful. God's infinite justice and mercy met at the cross on Calvary. Blood had to be shed, the penalty had to be met. Jesus took care of that. Now a serial murderer is found to be forgiven, not because of what he has done, but because of what Jesus has done. And God's holiness serves to remind every single person of their lack of holiness, and their need for foriveness. So, I don't begrudge the killer his forgiveness, since I have received it, too, and I am as vile as he is. |

God is not real. There is no argument for this simple fact.

[/ QUOTE ] If you can read all these posts of mine and think I'm a gimmick, that's amazing. To you and Keyser, I understand what you're saying. Westerners don't like the idea of something for nothing. We've been trained to work for what we get. Yeah, the lottery would be cool, but that's basically a tax on people who don't know math. Poker is kind of easy money, but you still gotta' work for it. We go to school, take entry-level positions and go up the ladder, go to the gym, etc. Then along comes God's message to humanity and it simply says, "Since I love you so much, I'm giving you the ultimate gift, totally free." It doesn't compute to us. Keyser is disatisfied with the answer, and I know why. It's the same reason that Christians becamse so dang judgmental and legalistic over the centuries. The ease and simplicity of the gift doesn't seem to make sense. How can it be real? So, those who are "in" spend time judging those who are "out" as if we've actually earned our right to be "in." But I'm not making up the message, I'm reporting on it. That's why the former slave holder wrote "Amazing Grace".....because grace is truly amazing. |
