Re: For Dissection....2008 Red Sox Roster........

I don't think there's any chance Ortiz plays more than 20 games at first base. Youkilis may move to third base. But if that happens, we'll sign a free agent first basemen even if it's just a one year deal. [/ QUOTE ] Agreed. No way in hell Sox brass will have Ortiz at 1b for more then 20 games. |

10% chance we re-sign Lowell, that 10% has nothing to do with what Boston offers, we WILL be lower then other people, it all comes down to if he wants to stay here, Theo isn't giving him the years other teams will either so its already in his court 5% chance we sign A-Rod. It just doesn't make much sense at this point, but it's fun to dream. [/ QUOTE ] I heard Larry L on the radio this morning. Based on what he said, I would say the chance of resigning Lowell is somewhat better than 10% but you're pretty much dead on regarding A-rod. |

Note that Lowell DID NOT file for FA today. Not that he won't, but he hasn't yet, which must be a good sign. For those that missed it, I think the whole list is Clement, Gagne, Kielty, and Schill (maybe leaving somebody out). Also, heard a rumor today that Gabe Kapler may be back to play a backup role next year, too. [/ QUOTE ] Oh [censored]!!! Gagne and Clement filed?!?! This team is F'd! |

Re: For Dissection....2008 Red Sox Roster........
Found this interesting. Curt Schilling posted the recruitment letter sent by management prior to their 2003 Thanksgiving visit to the Schilling house in his blog. Before you think it, he got their permission first.

Odds they don't actually know where the ball is? I'd say slim. |

Re: For Dissection....2008 Red Sox Roster........
An incentive-laden contract for Schilling is a very good deal for the Red Sox. He's got another year left in the tank and his presence would have to be good for Buchholz and Lester.

[/ QUOTE ] if he's got 20 starts in the tank including the playoffs i'll be happy. keep him healthy for the postseason, we've got enough depth to get by if he misses some time in june. or curt could just show up in shape this year. |
