For those curious, the Colts are releasing Corey Simon and they're working out a deal to be a little more cap friendly. Word on the street is he's done in the NFL as medical conditions (including but not limited too Polyarthritis) kept him out all last season.

Report: Colts DT McFarland likely out for year with knee injury

tough break for the Colts as they get the year started. McFarland was a solid and useful player for the Colts

[/ QUOTE ]

This is a disaster. Its going to be really hard to replace him.

AHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAH C'mon God, this [censored] stopped being funny when our first 300+ Pro Bowl DT said "Oh yeah, by the way, I have Arthritis".

In all seriousness, the only silver lining here is that Booger didn't play every down anyway, he had to rotate, it's awesome that we let Reagor go now though.

In other news, the NFL season is officially underway.

Two preseaon games tonight, Colts v. Cowboys and Cincy v. Detroit. Certainly these games, where starters will play 1 series usually, mean nothing, but it's good to see football back on TV.

Other big issues in the preseaon continue to be:

QB controversy in OAK- Daunte or Jamarcus for the starting spot. Personally I'm thinking let Daunte start the season and hand over the reigns once you start losing (they're the Raiders remember). In any case, JaMarcus starts full time next year with a solid year of study under his belt.

Larry Johnson still holding out in KC- Priest Holmes (34 years old) has said he'll take all the snaps if Johnson doesn't end his holdout (he wants Tomlinson money). Priest is too old and beaten up to handle the load but it may urge LJ to the table a little sooner.

Brady Quinn signs (5 years/7.75m signing bonus) in CLEV- It will be a lot of fun to see how Quinn, certainly a great passer at Notre Dame, adjusts to the pro game.

Lastly, Mike Vick still out- This is rapidly hitting critical mass. If Vick doesn't get back soon, it's likely that he'll sit for some if not all of the season, and his career may be in jeopardy pending the outcome of his federal case (LDO).

Steelers have named their new mascot: Steely McBeam.

I guess they didn't feel like using Hooty McBoob

I'm pumped for the season to get underway. Going to the Vikings preseason game tomorrow vs. the Rams. I'm looking forward to seeing how Tarvaris and our young WRs look. I'd expect them to get decent playing time, so it should be fun.
