Default ballermobile + freshman girl = pwn?

I'm still working on a prom date, but I've forgotten about that for now.

There's a really hot freshman girl who I asked to the prom last week who I knew from earlier in the year. She might have been out of my league if she were a junior, but since she's young and doesn't know me that well I figured I had a very good chance.

Basically I just went up to her locker and asked her straight out. She responded by asking me what date the prom was (good sign?) and then saying that she was going to a prom at another school (which she mentioned by name) with her friend (I did verify that the prom at said school is in fact on the same day).

The thing is, she apologized or said "I feel so bad" or something to that affect and appeared genuinely sad.

Now, since I recently purchased a ballermobile as mentioned in the thread title, I was planning on asking her to a movie at the mall on saturday in the same way I asked her to the prom. I figure that if I can get with her, it's an ez prom date, otherwise I can find some sophomore.

Her myspace declares that she is single as well, btw.

Basically I just wanted to run this by a few people with some experience in these situations so that I can pick out any obvious flaws in my plan and maybe pick up some pieces of advice I would have otherwise overlooked.

Trip reports will follow.
