I remember these types of stats in my high school sex ed classes..

am I crazy or are these absolutely absurd?..I can't imagine that condoms fail even 3%

[/ QUOTE ]
You aren't crazy. Even if condoms fail 3%, this rather obviously does not translate into anything like a 3% pregnancy risk.

Wait a second, txag. Are you seriously arguing that every person is responsible for the outcome of every action they take? No matter what that outcome is, no matter what your action, you are responsible for ANY and EVERY outcome of ANY and EVERY action you take?

[/ QUOTE ]
Are you honestly trying to argue that the idea that sexual intercourse may result in pregnancy is somehow obscure or arcane? This isn't rocket science.

at exactly what point does a sperm and an egg begin "forming a human"..to the point that it is given sudden full value as a human? and why?

[/ QUOTE ]
How about at that point when its DNA and chromosome count can pass the genetic equivalent of the Turing test - IE, its DNA/chromosome count is not that of a sperm or an egg, but its DNA is distinct from that of its mother.

Abortion is about taking something out of God's hands.

[/ QUOTE ]
I'm sure you've gotten this before, but out of curiosity, should I assume you oppose the death penalty for the same reason?

[/ QUOTE ]
No, I don't. That's for another thread, though.

Sex isn't required and isn't sufficient. Its of no improtance to the abortion debate even if you put it in capitals.

[/ QUOTE ]
That's irrelevant. The question was whether or not two 16 year olds have NO POSSIBLE WAY of knowing that a baby could result from having sex.

LOL! I didn't even realize until now that I did that. That's pretty funny.

How about the point when you discover that it has indeed occurred? In other words, when you first realize that you are pregnant.

Again, you are getting caught up in a moot point.
My argument here is not that a zygote has the potential to become a baby.

To form a zygote a decision has to be made - in natural processes two people have sexual intercourse.
Whether it's this scenario / a scientist in a lab / some guy with a cloning machine..

For a zygote to be created - a choice has been made prior to it that has taken a sperm and egg and joined them.

My final point about the zygote is that it is clearly already on it's way to becoming a baby because of a choice that a person has made.
When and if Science can create life from a hair cell by another intentional choice then they too will have no right to kill or abuse that life.
