Assani,
Stockton played at a high level for a much longer period of time, that is the primary reason he is better than Nash.

[/ QUOTE ]Obviously when you take a retired player and compare him to a player in his prime, theres a good chance that the retired player will have done it longer. Nash's game doesn't rely upon athleticism very much at all. Therefore I wouldn't be surprised to see him stay in his prime for a long time.

[/ QUOTE ]
So you think Nash is better than Stockton because of how you project the future?
Why are Stocktons early years better than Nash's Dallas years?

you can make a pretty good case for Marion>Nash last year, and Amare is very close this year

[/ QUOTE ]I don't think its even remotely close, as I think Nash has had MVP like seasons while those guys have had top 20 or maybe top 10(and thats being very very generous) type seasons. But I don't really wish to debate it.

[/ QUOTE ]

At this point you've reserved to begging the question i.e., Nash should have won the MVP because he won the MVP.

FWIW Scott Skiles (who is a top basketball mind, period.) said earlier in the year he thinks Nash is the best player in the world and that it wasn't even close.

Why do so many people like GP so much????????
Nash now>>>>>>>>>>>&gt ;>>>>>>>>>>>>& gt;GP in his prime.
GP is one of the most overrated players ever, I'll take Kidd over him.

Honestly, GP is by far the best PG defender in his prime. Nash is a much better passer and honestly that's what PG are supposed to do but GP led his team to the finals. GP had 1 hell of a career.

Yeah he was a good player and will be a hall of famer, albeit in the bottom rung of HOFers. But I read a lot of posts on here where people think this guy was like worlds greatest pg or something.

Capone,

Edit those >'s man, you're making the thread scroll horizontally.

Edit: Thanks =)

barryc,

Greatest ever? No. But he's a lot higher on the list than you're giving him credit for. He was very good offensively and exceptional defensively. He is a lock HOF and definitely not "bottom-rung."

I would like to take this moment to say that I hated John Stockton with a fiery passion and I wanted someone to cave in the side of his head.

But he was a very good point guard, probably the best I've seen not named Magic.
