That is the worst suggestion I've ever heard WRT reorganizing "Other Topics". It's ridiculously fragmented and would likely lay waste to any real sense of community and cohesion on the 2+2 forums.

aj, I did find the stats pretty interesting but I'm into charts and crap like that. But what I really want is to see the juicy posts slamming us regular posters. My advice to you on this matter is simple. When it comes to forum expansion decisions, listen to the people who have shown an ability to develop forums with high levels of activity. Look to people like the MTT guys and the OOT guys to see how forum expansion should be done successfully.

OOT spawned off Politics, Sports, and POG, among others, all for very good reason.

MTT similarly spawned some additional forums.

Not surprisingly, these are all thriving, and I suspect likely result in a net increase in activity across the set of forums.

One can also look at the NL section to see how to expand the forums successfully as interest demands.

On the other hand, when forum expansion decisions are made arbitrarily, it is far less likely to succeed, and can easily lead to a level of fragmentation that actually detracts from the momentum and community that is the foundation of activity and growth across the forums.

The reason I often argue against the positions of diebitter and Sniper on matters like this is not because I don't like them. It's because they lack a fundamental understanding of what elements actually are required to build successful forums within this community.

I didn't get the db hate but if he is regularly this stupid in the mod forum it makes a lot of sense.
