Re: A-Rod opts out of contract
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] I believe the Yankees have something like $90MM to play around with this offseason assuming they increase their payroll by 5%. That's before Posada and Rivera get inked, but they'll still have a boatload to spend. My new gameplan for the Yankees is to trade Wang/Cabrera/other prospect for Santana, and ink him to a 6/150 extension. Then sign Hunter/Jones/Rowand to replace Cabrera. [/ QUOTE ] No gracias. Thay3r convinced me on this one. [/ QUOTE ] What does he say now that A-Rod is gone? |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Ya but Jeter doesn't cause as many headaches as Arod. [/ QUOTE ] Such as... [/ QUOTE ] Still waiting... [/ QUOTE ] If Jeter does bad in playoffs Yanks don't have to deal with media circus cuz he has done good in playoffs with yanks before. Jeter doesn't say stupid [censored] to media. Jeter doesn't do stupid [censored] on the field to piss teams/people/media off. Jeter [censored] lots a chicks but thats fine cuz he's single so no biggie [/ QUOTE ] he did stay at SS even though the roster picked up a player that was worth ~30runs more defensively than him at the time thats pretty damn selfish |

Re: A-Rod opts out of contract
He has obviously been planning to opt out for a looooong time. Given that's how he feels I don't see how you can be anything but happy now that he is gone. It would be great if things had worked out while he was here and right now instead he felt passionately about winning in NY, but he doesn't, he has been looking forward to playing somewhere else for a couple seasons now obviously

Re: A-Rod opts out of contract
rwperu,
perhaps someone will escort you to 2001 where that joke is funny. anyway, trading for santana would be pretty terrible. i have a feeling the yankees will talk themselves into this if they lose a-rod (not yet a foregone conclusion imo), but there is just no reason to do it. nor is there any reason to sign rowand, who in spite of his awesome season this year, will be yet another guy signed to too long a deal whose range will decline. the less free agents, the better. |

Horrible decision. He may make a little more, but that deal will cripple who ever signs him. It will be Texas all over again [/ QUOTE ] Texas signed Chan Ho Park and Juan Gonzalez the year after they signed A-Rod. |

Re: A-Rod opts out of contract
not reading through all this, but I just want to say I'm disgusted the announcers and Fox spent so much time on A-Rod drama during a clinching world series game.
For full disclosure-I had no 'horse' in the world series game. Just thought it was inappropriate. |

ANGELS!!! ANGELS!!! [/ QUOTE ] They need him so bad. A great pitching staff that needs one extra bat in the lineup to make them a legitimate offensive threat. Oh please, oh please. |
