im going to europe tom for a month, any last minute recomendations of stuff to make sure I have in my backpack?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'd recomend always keeping like $500US on you at all times for emergencies. You're going to want to use ATM's to get cash cause they charge you a ton to convert, but if something happens to your atm card the cash will save your ass.

I was in Europe this winter and I lost my atm card in a machine in Vienna. Bank of America said the fastest they could ship a new one was 2 weeks. Fortunately I was with friends who just gave me cash + used credit cards, but otherwise I would've been [censored].

[/ QUOTE ]

That'd suck. I think I'll try see about getting two atm cards.

Not complaining, just wanted to go on record. He hates me, it's really funny. Every time I'm at his table he calls me a moron who keeps getting lucky. Every time I win a hand, even not against him, he starts yelling at me.

Oh man the storm is coming isn't it? Ah well. Good to see you in Vegas. I've got some stuff ready for you - will come shortly.

Look you guys play very well, no question, so SPR will be just a tweak for this forum. Often people are correct to used fixed raise sizes, no argument there. Fixed raise sizes are less exploitable / more "game theoretic" but they come at a cost and imo are suboptimal in a much wider range of circumstances than current MSNL thinking, especially in 100BB games and if you throw in some randomization to thwart observant opponents. A lot of it depends on how good you think your opponents are at hand reading though. We go into it in detail in the book but don't even get to the definition of an SPR in the mini-except (we restrict our use to at the flop only).

Also, a fixed raise size of 3-4BB can suck for top pair and overpair hands in 100BB stack games against aggressive opponents, because it sets you up for tough decisions if you get raised postflop. But sometimes you just don't have the leeway to do it differently. Whatevah. The book'll be out in three weeks, then the flaming can begin in earnest. I'm getting fitted for my Nomex suit Thursday.

yeah some very respected people around here have a problem with the SPR concept - esp WRT exploitability.
