Sorry, I only started following up on this story last night, so I'm a little confused.....was the transfer of the excel spreadsheet really an "accident"? Or does nobody know?

[/ QUOTE ]

An accident or deliberate - nobody's really sure...that member of staff doesn't work there any more ... so make of that what you want...

Two items from the phone conversation:

"Not all of the information posted on 2+2 is incorrect, but a lot of it is completely wrong."

"Some people are using this opportunity to spread misinformation and trying to hurt Absolute Poker. A lot of really untrue things are being said on purpose to make us look bad."

These claims have made me wonder. The evidence of cheating is repeatedly claimed to be convincing in these threads. Are these convictions based on belief that the reported Excel-file is genuine?

Okay, I don't know how many times this has to be addressed, but...

1. The spreadsheet contains otherwise unavailable holecards that have been verified by people who played in the tournament.
2. The spreadsheet is 10 mb and is 65,636 lines long.
3. The spreadsheet contains tons of email address and IP addresses. I double checked a bunch of them using the big user database at thepokerdb (we have around 130,000 users, including much of the active online poker world). All of them checked out.

So the answer is, could someone have changed the 3 lines that led to the discovery of all of this info? Yes. They could have. Did they? I SEVERELY doubt it.

[/ QUOTE ]

Which begs the question - will the auditors see the same .xls file? Assuming they're even real auditors of course.

okay. there is a picture of someone who is supposed to be Willy McMahon (presumably from the hendon mob base) here.

http://news.pokerpages.com/index.php...ew&id=1196

and there are active McBill accounts at Full Tilt and PokerStars.

I'm going to chalk it up to a strange coincidence for now. Just felt weird.

CLARIFICATION: They appear to be separated by four years in their "join date" at the frat.
It's likely a strange coincidence is all.

Dan, since Paul at AP wouldn't clarify for you what he meant when he said that some things in these threads are true, while other parts are completely false, I will do my best. For example, someone wrote:

[ QUOTE ]

1) During a tournament played by cheater 'Potripper,' the person who ended up coming second ("Marco") thought he was cheated. He emailed Absolute, and they sent him a hand history file - an XLS file.

[/ QUOTE ]

Now it's true that a player was cheated, but it's UTTERLY RIDICULOUS AND A COMPLETE FABRICATION to say that it was "Marco" when everyone knows it was "CrazyMarco"!

Furthermore, THERE IS NO SUPERUSER THAT CAN SEE HOLE CARDS! How many times do we have to tell you this? What happens is that there is an account that can remotely log into our mainframe (not through our client--DUH!) and it can see in *plain text* what the hole cards are at the table, but it does NOT actually see the hole cards themselves! Scott Tom uses this account and relays the info to his buddy A.J.

So you see, a lot of this slanderous babble going on is utterly ridiculous and false, and you should feel better knowing the truth now, lol!

Doing some Googling for news on this (a number of hits now) I ran across this item. Wouldn't have thought twice but considering what's been going on and the Montana connection, I thought this was interesting.

MONTANA ONLINE POKER PLAYER STRIKES GOLD IN ABSOLUTE DREAM PACKAGE

No more big tourney buy-in worries for MCBill....

Montana resident and online poker player "MCBill" probably feels like he's struck gold this week after winning access to a possible over $100 million in online poker tournament prize pool money. Absolute Poker revealed that the online poker player hailing from Helena, Montana has won the 5th Absolute Dream Package on October 7th.

[/ QUOTE ]

Note: Not implying anything here. Just an interesting news item.

[/ QUOTE ]

Okay. I wasn't going to post this earlier. But I think it's worth at least a mention.

There is a william willis mcmahon listed in Scott's frat buddies.

There is a william/willy mcmahon that cross references to the hendon mob database. I have no idea if this connects at all. He is listed out of Atlantic City in that db.
I went looking thru all the frat buddies hours ago for any connections like that and sat on it because it (still) has no real meaning.

But that screen name and real name suddenly looks a tad strange with that DB and big win at AP doesn't it?

can anyone dig further into that?

"1) I'm not aware of any strong evidence that links Mark to anything here"

i didnt say he is involvrd in any of the cheating etc. i dont think its a good think to speculate on those kind of things because that will lose the communitys credibility.

2) Mark is a public representative of AP; it is reasonable that he is cynical of stuff critical of AP

come on............... cynical like seriously. being cynical is one thing but hes basically saying that he found nothing really that suspicios or unusual about potrippers hands isnt being cynical of critism. hes being used as a sock puppet.

3) There's no evidence that Mark has access any more information than us on this matter

lol i woudnt think he would need it.

im just saying that hes going to come out of this looking so bd if he keeps opening his mouth. i dont think the money he would get from being affilated with AP will make up for how he will end up after this is done.

Jehaim...

Nice find...on the MCBILL tourney history !

Basically we need to look at anyone that has won a tournament of value between Sept 1st and today with a history similar to the accounts shown...

This looks like it could be a lot worse than we ever imagined..
