I think Yeti made a mistake banning Assani.
I think you made a mistake demodding Yeti.

However, neither of those things was that big a deal in the grand scheme of things imo, and easily changed back.

Mods jumping all over Yeti (and NT in other threads for another example) is pretty pathetic, though. All this indignant reaction about a 3-hour ban seems sorta ridiculous when bans of PITTM after his reinstatement were just a big hilarious joke to everyone.

As for your question, I think there's simply a big divide between groups of mods regarding what it actually means to be a mod here and how much they think it actually matters.

I will once again point out that in theory the reason to have smart people as mods is to that we can indentify a troll without them having to actaully break a law.

I think Assani is specifically this kind of troll.

I say this with a lot of respect for Mebenhoe, and as someone who is probably in a minority of sports forum posters in this opinion, but I think he is too easy on assani-type trolls in relation to how he deals with smart contributors who get a little chippy at times. I would not expect him to do anything to reign in Assani or a lot of the other bad sports posters (I don't read NBA threads so I have probably never read a good AF post) because it's not his style and I don't think he feels the need to change it.

I have refrained from saying this for a long time because most people in that forum seem to be pretty happy, so maybe I'm just wrong / out of touch.
