Read my post at the [censored] thread. I beat nothing. Ever.

Karp, post all 5 of those hands where you lost a buyin in 12 minutes in this thread. I'll bet there were some coolers but I'll bet some mistakes we could all learn from as well.

[/ QUOTE ]

Sure I'll do that later on. Sory for being an atenttion whore but for some reason my anger got smaller after typing instead of yelling into a pillow.

My first impression was definitely call on the river, but the T is kind of bad in that it either makes the straight or pairs a lot of his floating hands.

To the people saying he could have hands like AJ here. I don't think so. Most players don't vb very thin on the river. Thinking they do, is most likely a leak.

Traditionally a float is a call in position with air looking to pick up the pot by betting the turn. But it is now used interchangeably with 'peeling' which is what most fish do. Call a flop bet with KQ on a T high board and only continue if they pick up a pair or a draw.

A thin value bet is one that we believe to be very marginally +EV.

A typical villain at nl25 is as likely to check a monster on the flop as he is to bet it. So I'm not confident I have the best hand until the turn gets checked to me as well.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes, he's liable to check a monster, but mostly he won't have a monster - he'll have JJ or KQ or something and those hands he will want to bet. You don't need to be sure you have the best hand on the flop, you just need there to be a good chance. If you check, neither alternative is good if you're facing a bet on a blank turn - you can either fold, in which case you'll be folding the best hand too much, or you can call, in which case you'd have been better off betting the flop.

[ QUOTE ]
We pretty much had the same thought process on the river. He had AK btw - lol.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, you have to call because people are just too weird. I could fold versus a villain I knew a bit more about.

what does floating hands, and float light mean?

[/ QUOTE ]

A float is a call in position made by a player not because he thinks he has the best hand but because he thinks there is a good chance of bluffing the other player out later in the hand. For instance, someone raises and you call in position with QdJd. The flop comes Tc 6c 4d and they bet. You might opt to call here thinking that they're unlikely to have much either and might check fold the turn. Often, as in this case, a float is backed up by some possible ways to win - in this hand a Q or J might be good and you have some backdoor possibilities.

Some people also use "float" to refer to the general pattern of flat calling a bet in position to see what your opponent does on the turn, regardless of whether you have air or some kind of made hand.

You may also encounter the term "OOP float", which is the same thing as a float but out of position. This should only be attempted by trained professionals.

Thin means that you think a certain play is correct, but you expect that compared to the alternative, the money you make from it will be very small.
