Re: *official 2007 red sox thread*
Lester was on the verge of getting killed every inning last year it seemed like.
But i guess if hansack, tavarez and lester are your options it doesnt really matter since they all suck. |

[ QUOTE ]
giving major league starts to jon lester instead of devern hansack is like, a baltimore orioles move. lester is total crap right now and maybe the 10th best option to start a game in the organization [/ QUOTE ] thats kind of a ridiculous over-exaggeration |

[/ QUOTE ] Clearly, you weren't paying attention to their body language the past few games. They knew that with Ortiz out, they were really going to have to bring their A-games to the plate every at-bat, and that spirit put the fire back in their eyes, thus allowing them to score a bunch of runs. |

Re: *official 2007 red sox thread*
Just bought a pair of "Whitney Bank Club" seats for the Saturday game at Tampa. Here's an Ebay seller's description of the Whitney Bank Club:
Here are two tickets to the Ray's Whitney Bank Club to watch the Tampa Bay Devil Rays take on the Boston Red Sox! These tickets allow you to enter Gate 4 (but you can enter any gate you wish), which is for VIP and Media only, so there is rarely any wait to get in. Once inside Gate 4, there are two banks of elevators. Take it up one floor, and you are there. Two concierges are there to meet you (and make sure you have the right to be there). The menu varies, but usually there is a "traditional food station with Dogs (with all the fixings) and Wings. The next food station usually has a pasta dish, salad, soup, and a seafood dish. On the end of the station is coffee, tea, and desserts. The final food station usually has two carving stations. The quality of the food is top notch! Exactly what you expect from a luxury club. There are two bars, and usually five or six bartenders, that provide you with free Bud, Bud Light, Miller Light, Mich Ultra, red wine, white wine, and white zin. The sodas are Pepsi products, and everything described comes with the ticket! While inside the club, there are large leather seats, high top tables, and low top tables. Multiple flat screens are scattered through out the club, so you never miss the action. Directly in front of the club are the seats (these are in the first row!!!), and they are comfortable black leather seats. Even the restrooms are sectioned off from the general public. I got a pair on StubHub for much less than they're selling for on Ebay--but then again, I had to settle for the second row. Will post trip report. Also going to the Sunday game, but since I'm bringing the whole family, there will no holla-balla seats. It's the cheap seats on Sunday. (EDIT: By the way, the "Virtual Visa" card provided by ePassport doesn't work worth a [censored].) |

also i am wondering where all those people who were like, "LOL at the idea of an offense running bad" are now?? [/ QUOTE ] I don't know if you're specifically targeting me with this quote or just randomly addressing a bunch of people on the board, but I'll respond: I don't think, nor did I ever say, that an offense can't run bad. I certainly believe that an offense can run bad and I also agree that there has been some of that in the Red Sox offense over the last month and a half. Without a doubt. I just think they've been playing bad also. To continue the poker metaphor that somebody used a couple of days ago, if a winning player is losing over an extended period of time, it's probably due to running bad, but also that player has probably been not playing as well as they normally do. I know that's been the case for my poker career whenever I've had an extended losing streak. So, no, "the best players don't always win", as that poster said, but there certainly can be different reasons as to why. It's you guys who sound like the bad players who just think they constantly run bad without even possibly considering that it's more than just bad luck. |
