I'll take this as valid.

Once again I'm sorry to be late. I was on and checked the posts at 7:30 and left just before 8 to get some drinks with friends. I should have posted just before since it was clear that nothing was going to happen before 8.

According to the rules, some time should be allowed for changing. I think this happened, although it was unofficial, and I don't believe any change would have taken place anyway.

I understand that arguments could be made for or against this ruling. I'll lock the thread for now and reopen it tomorrow. If anybody has an argument, feel free to make it over PM. It wouldn't be a crime to wait a bit since the game is at such a crucial stage.
