Re: ***Official 2007 Philadelphia Phillies Thread***
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I think I'd rather see Moyer pitching than everyone pitching on short rest. [/ QUOTE ] I'll take Hamels on 3 days rest and Kendrick in game 5 with full rest, but apparently I'm not nearly as high on Moyer as you guys. Don't have much confidence in a 44 year old pitcher after a 200 inning season who doesn't break 80. [/ QUOTE ] So, when he was 39 and did the same thing and didn't break 80mph and went 3-0 in the playoffs, you'd have made the same argument, right? No way Moyer goes 3-0?? Or even 1-0? [/ QUOTE ] Five years ago his ERA was over a run and a half better than this year. His fastball was probably 10 miles faster, since he was throwing in the low-mid 80s as recently as last year. Looking at how his ERA has skyrocketed and his velocity fallen over the course of this season, it's not a stretch to conclude that he is too worn out to be successful anymore. [/ QUOTE ] I guess his 1-run, 0 w, 6 K performance on Sunday, worn out with no velocity and a 'skyrocketing' ERA was unsuccessful then. |

Re: ***Official 2007 Philadelphia Phillies Thread***
Moyer last 4 starts, 2 home 2 away:
5+ ip, 0 E.run, 5 hits, 0 W, 6 Ks 5+ ip, 6 runs [smallest strike zone evah] 6 ip, 1 run 7 ip, 2 runs, 4 hits ~ 3.42 ERA if I calculated correctly. |

Whatever, Moyer is clearly a beast and I would rather him pitch than Kendrick on short rest. Kendrick is also a beast though.

Re: ***Official 2007 Philadelphia Phillies Thread***
I think it's close enough that Moyer starting on full rest won't make me a nervous wreck waiting for the pitcher to unravel at any moment.
Eaton on the other hand... |

More like, Hamels blows out his arm before the game and out trots Eaton for Game 7 of the NLCS, which we promptly lose 28-3. [/ QUOTE ] Apparently not possible now, since he didn't make the roster. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/playof...ory?id=3046331 |

I wouldnt have minded him out of the bullpen. Poor guy, he seems pretty nice and handled it well. Too bad he sucks.

Re: ***Official 2007 Philadelphia Phillies Thread***
[ QUOTE ]
Right-hander Kyle Lohse will pitch out of the bullpen in the first two games. If he isn't used in either one, Lohse (9-12) would likely start Game 3 and veteran lefty Jamie Moyer (14-12) would start Game 4, if it's necessary. [/ QUOTE ] I don't like this. Leave Lohse as a starter. The part that bothers me is that I can see Manuel just blowing him in the seventh when he doesn't need to.
