Re: How Do I Cook This Steak
I enjoyed Chris Ruth's filet mignon far more than Delmonico's ribeye btw.

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] -Can you wait overnight? If so, marinating it in soy sauce or something would be good [/ QUOTE ] Teriyaki is much better. [/ QUOTE ] My rationale at the time was that soy sauce is a much more common condiment than teriyaki sauce but now that I think about it-I guess you could expect households to have them at the same rate. Also oversight. [/ QUOTE ] No you couldn't. And teriyaki sauce is much more expensive. Soy is cheap for people who really use it. [/ QUOTE ] LOL @ all of this debate. Teriyaki is mostly soy sauce. Just add some ginger, garlic and brown sugar, and you've got a basic teriyaki marinade. If happen to have some mustard powder and sesame seed oil, you could add about a tsp of each. You can also go out and buy a good quality ale, stout, or porter, add about a cup and drink the rest. |

What is the best way to cook mushrooms with a steak? [/ QUOTE ] Chop up some green onions and some shitaake mushrooms, throw them in a pan with butter, fry them till they turn dark brown and mushy. Then pour them over the finished steak. Edit: and garlic too. |

Re: How Do I Cook This Steak
I tried this frying steak thing tonight and almost burned down my house. Started a grease fire, lots of smoke, and I have a bunch of first degree burns from hot oil splashing around.
BTW, I have no idea how to cook anything, in case that wasn't obvious. |

Also, as I like to mention, a good apartment/no ventilation method is to cook it in whole butter on a little over medium heat. It results in a very nice crust. |
