Alright I'm bumping this [censored] because Tulane will definitely pull off the biggest upset ever as 40 point underdogs to LSU.

[/ QUOTE ]

Only if Notre Dame steals the LSU uniforms.

I can't speak for the Shoe or Happy Valley; but I've been to every SEC venue except Kentucky and in terms of loudness I would rank them like this:

1) LSU
2) Florida
3) Tennessee
4) Auburn
5) Alabama
6) Georgia
7) South Carolina
8) Arkansas
9) Ole Miss
10) Miss St.
11) Vanderbilt

I won't compare these venues to places I've never been; but I can't imagine a louder more intimidating atmosphere than a night game at Death Valley.

My mom has a pretty sweet picture of when Tulane broke their 25 year winless streak against LSU with a 14-0 victory in 1973. I tried to find an online version of it, but it doesn't seem to exist.

Don't put FL on the same level as USC, LSU, or OK.

[/ QUOTE ]

Why not?

I'm guessing he's saying that because you guys struggled against Ole Miss. Which might be an overreaction IMO. Almost every CFB team has a week where they play like crap against inferior competition. I'm talking about even elite teams. There is a clear top tier, and I happen to think UF is in it (despite their struggles against Ole Miss). I would rank them 4th though.

First of all, there's a pretty decent chance of rain (in Eugene? in the fall? shocking, I know).

[/ QUOTE ]

It never rains in Autzen Stadium.

[/ QUOTE ]
Of course it doesn't, I'm well aware of this fact, and you misinterpereted my post. I meant there's a pretty decent chance of rain IN EUGENE. Autzen will of course feature liquid sunshine

I know this is off topic, but what do you guys (specifically, MT2R) think of Oregon's chances against USC?

[/ QUOTE ]
I think there is far less of a talent gap between USC and Oregon/Cal than most people think. If Oregon is good enough to beat Cal today (whether they actually end up doing so or not), then they are good enough to beat USC too. There's some defensive matchup issues with Oregon's d-line vs. USC's O-Line, but the Ducks are definitely capable of pulling off a win in that game.

This is NOT the same as saying they WILL though. It may just be a product of the last five years slowly grinding away all faith I had in the Ducks, but I just can't see them beating USC late in the year. Rationally, I think the game is winnable, and I'd say they should probably win it about 30-40% of the time on talent, but in my heart I think the odds are 10% at best. I expect the Ducks to beat Cal today, lose to USC later, and probably lose 1-2 other Pac Ten games they have no business losing. If they played USC today and Cal later, I'd expect a USC win and a loss to Cal, plus 1-2 other inexplicable losses instead. It's not rational, I know, but right now it's what I feel is on the way. Hopefully I'm wrong about all of it except the Cal win

LSU looks good with those white helmets. They have not worn those that I've seen since they beat the hell out of Notre Dame in some bowl game several years ago.
