I think I would take 50-1 for ten tries, myself. So 'play' i'll put up 10, you put up 500, i'll take ten tries. Is that good enough for you?

for what it's worth, I've never said it was easy

I've said that it's nothing special, and I'm certain that I could do the same thing - almost certainly not on the first try (as no one could guarantee that) but in a reasonable time

I tossed out the 5000:1 odds not because of you, but because of other posters that thought it's harder than that and wanted to put money vs. me

those people have since disappeared for some reason...

is it a hard feat? what do you think the chance is that some internet douchebag (i.e. me) could win one blind?

[/ QUOTE ]

I have no idea how it would be. I also doubt you're a douchebag.

I only know that it is not easy.

Let me reverse the question:

How bad can odds be until the thing being bet on can no longer be described as easy?

2-1? 5-1? Can something be a 10-1 long shot still be considered easy? Or nothing special? Or "not amazing"?

I think we can all agree that 5000-1 would have to be something very special indeed.

So where is that line for you? Where are you going to say "Hey, pretty cool." instead of "nothing special. I could do it."

ahh playallday i think people are using different definitions of "easy" here

you consider "easy" to be uncommon grando meant it in the sense of "little skill required"

my whole point is that people are praising annette tremendously for something that:

- isn't very skillful
- isn't that long of a shot to happen

I personally don't think that it's a big deal, and I also think that the odds that someone playing this blind is much better than 1/5000 - I'd say it's closer to 1/1500

I noticed that. The guy who wanted to give you a million to one.

I'd take that myself.

As to the rest - fair enough. You know my position by now.

Grando and I told him this over and over again and he insisted we were...wrong or something? Not sure, it was funny though.

Mason, if that's true... if we are discussing different things.

Well, if that's true, a lot of things would make more sense.

That's what Chump was saying, now that you point it out.

So, if Chump is rereading this in the morning... "Oh, hey Chump. I see what you meant... I hope you see what I meant."

Well, I'm too beat to make any more sense of it.

I hope that you can see why I was having such a disconnect. I can see both sides much better using two different definitions.

I'm going swimming, back in a few if y'all think I need more abuse.
