booze does not affect your decisions. It just gives you the courage to do what your mind has already decided it wants. the girl is 17, she is old enough to be making her own decisions, drunk or not.

I should add that I was in college at 17 too, and we got drunk a lot. But when my roommate's almost-17-years-old-never-been-drunk sister came down, we let her get as smashed as she wanted but did not let her disappear with one of the guys in the dorm.

College students and high-school students are different.

No.

Booze lowers your inhibitions. That is NOT the same as giving you "courage".

Alcohol increases impulsive behavior and decreases your ability to consider consequences. It boils everything down to "what's going on here and now".

Today I wanted to tell a customer to [censored] off. At that particular moment, I really wanted to. If I had had 3 margaritas in me, I probably would have.

That doesn't mean I wouldn't INFINITELY regret doing that tomorrow when my boss fired me.

Social inhibition is what keeps humans from becoming involved in potentially objectionable actions and/or expressions in a socialsetting. The significance of this inhibiting behaviour varies greatly from person to person, and may be closely linked to a person's confidence.

my bad, replace courage with confidence.

confidence

2. belief in oneself and one's powers or abilities; self-confidence; self-reliance; assurance: His lack of confidence defeated him.

sounds a lot like courage to me.

even at 25, and having little to no interaction with chicks that are 15 to 17, I can tell you, even to me, things have changed markedly in the last decade.
