My vote for the identity of PrincessENE goes to Wendeen Eolis, the person responsible for shutting the first Poker Clubs in NYC, who is now on the advisory board.

Whoever she is, I would like to thank her for confirming to NVG that women are incapable of having a calm, rational discussion. I think she has burnt out the exclamtion point on her keyboard.

Oh, and if y'all want a hint as to princessENE's identity, E.N.E. are her initials.

That's not a guess. It's a fact.

Have fun.

For some reason this thread reminds me of the Terrence Chan thread at the Playboy Mansion poker charity event.

Also, why does the princess use a "!" after every sentence? Does she know that a "." is also a form of punctuation!

I will take any amount of money you can raise that Harrah's will have the event next year. When Harrah's got involved in the Horseshoe downtown, it was done primarily to get the WSOP name, which has been a gigantic cash cow for them. Why in the world would they give up the ownership or running of it when, despite these gripes, it will end up considered a huge success at the end of the day?

[/ QUOTE ]

Thats a suckers bet, Harrah's is being sold to Appolo/TPG, the deal is nearly complete. Its expected that the company will be broken up with some of the properties and intellectual properties (such as the WSOP) sold off. This is public knowlege - link

PrincessENE she has practically told us already but hasn't come out to say it outright (and IMHO only she has the right to say who she is publicly - anyone who explicitly discloses her identity it is out of line). Google is your friend too.

Of course it could just be a troll pretending to be her, I doubt this because she has has revealed so much personal information on Jack in this thread, but its a remote possibility.

But I do hope you start a separate thread about Wendeen Eolis, thats going to be a good one. I didn't realize how on the edge she was until I just googled her.

Doesn't E----- kinda work for the WSOP in some capacity now? Would explain a lot of this thread.

Dear ENE,

Rest assured that this thread is not a berserk witch-hunt from a rogue minority. The frustrations expressed here are echo'ed throughtout the Amazon Room on a daily (and sometimes hourly) basis.

Though some are interested in assigning blame between Jack, Pollack, or those higher up the food chain, I suspect the majority of us just want to go to work. And not get raped too badly while doing it.

See, that's the metric for poker players. It's not treated fairly (or even treated well)-- it's not get raped too badly.

Please tell Jack, though I'm sure he already knows, that it's still pretty bad.

Best,
Adam Richardson ( <----- real name )

ps. you will no doubt chastize me for not telling this to Jack myself. I've tried. Twice. The 2nd time was the day before the Heads Up event, when I questioned the reasoning behind the first round byes. We had a long talk about fairness, equity, and the 1/2 buyin solution of the Mirage tournament, which he called "wacky". Though he insisted his tournament was 'fairer' for the players than the Mirage, he could not explain why when pressed. And I don't think he has an understanding of equity; his face went blank every time I used the word.

edited out names and jobs

Clearly Dan you've never held a 9-5 job in your life, and if you have you've been fortunate to work for competent to good management. I've had a few jobs, worked for great managers, and crappy managers. Your post screams naivete.

[ QUOTE ]

I did take my concerns "to his face", and I was basically given a lot of useless bureaucratic-type answers. It also seems that, once he has decided to do something a certain way, he is incredibly stubborn about making changes on-the-fly, even when it is painfully obvious that his initial plan was ill-advised. This was very apparent when he refused to stop low-limit cash games and move people out of the 100-degree tent on June 15th.

[/ QUOTE ]

Customer Relations 101 if you can't fix it explain it to the best of your abilities. I'm sure Jack would have liked to close down the tent, Management probably won't give him the space or the people to allow him open side rooms in the Rio. Management also won't let him go 10/11 handed like last year, (they promised they wouldn't remember ?). But they won't change the quota's for revenue generation, so your job depends on bringing in X dollars/day. What do you do ?

1) Ignore your bosses directives and hope they don't fire you?
If you are comfortable that your boss has your back, and won't throw you to the wolves if things go wrong you can do this, but going off script is a good way to get fired.

2) Take the crap from the unhappy customers and plug along and at the appropriate time make a detailed report and set of suggestions to your bosses when they are receptive to hear it ?

people that keep their jobs who need to manage their bosses do this...

[ QUOTE ]

It's also a copout to be saying that the problems at the WSOP are the fault of Harrah's upper management, and that Effel was handcuffed by their restrictions. It is up to the tournament director to work with his upper management to secure the resources he needs (such as an additional conference room for more tables), rather than simply accepting the initial "no" for an answer.

[\quote]

BOSS I DEMAND YOU GIVE ME THIS .... lol what job have you worked at where you get everything you want...

Look you make your best case for the resources you need, based on the costs and expected revenue. At some point the debate is over and you make the best of what you get or you quit. (I imagine this is where you storm out in huff for the Honor of Poker HAHAHAHAHAHAHA)

[ QUOTE ]

Furthermore, we have no proof that Effel or Pollack ever made requests to Harrah's that were turned down. Some apologists are just assuming that.

[/ QUOTE ]

Naive, you will never have proof that they made requests to management. One never argues with the boss in front of the customers. You might as well tattoo "FIRE MY DUMB ASS NOW" on your forehead. I'm assuming that because this isn't Jacks first day at the rodeo, and I've been in similar no win situation myself. If you want to keep your job you make the best case you can then you go out and carry the ball. If the way things are going get too bad or wear to much on you, you start to look for better opportunities but you keep carrying the ball till you get a better gig.

[ QUOTE ]

Even if that was the case, it was Effel's responsibility to work around such restrictions and make the best of the situation. For example, if the conditions in the tent are unreasonable, close down the cash games and use those tables for the players who were supposed to be in the tent. Not rocket science, but somehow this wasn't done. This is the type of crap people are talking about.

[/ QUOTE ]

What if he decided to sit 10 or 11 to a table would that be ok ? This was a major problem last year....Show me your proof that he has the absolute freedom to close down cash generating tables with out repercussions.

[ QUOTE ]

I am just a player. I have zero experience managing tournaments. However, I can guarantee -- and in fact would bet my entire bankroll -- that I could do a better job running the tournament next year if put in charge. And when I say "better job", I mean you would find far more positive posts here and elsewhere about a Dan-Druff-run WSOP than the current mess we have seen for the past 3 years -- this one being the worst.

[/ QUOTE ]

Best reviews don't equal profit. Popularity is easy, its profit thats hard. Most companies seek absolute max profits, as opposed to fair profit. Harrahs is and always will be a Max profit company. If you don't like it take your business elsewhere.

If you are so sure of your abilities take your bankroll, and hire a casino and sponsor your tournament. Go Head to head with Harrahs. You could even advertise "No tents, No waiting, No inconveniences of any kind" and no profit.... If you are successful, anything you make would be way more than some wager... go for it Danny find out what the real world is like take the plunge.

Isn't this the fourth WSOP TD in as many years?

Think #5 will get it perfect?
