To all Shaq proponents:
Assume we start this year over. Rank every player on "chance to win you a championship." Where does Shaq rank on talent alone? Where does he rank once you take into account health? |

If so, then I think Shaq would be way up there because you just let Shaq rest during the year, make the playoffs, and then have him for the playoffs. If theres a good chance you'll miss the playoffs without him, then hes probably not that valuable since theres such a good chance that he'd miss time. |

That's the point Assani. You answered the question yourself. Shaq isn't the centerpiece (by which I mean first option) on ANY championship team, ever again. He HAS to play second fiddle to a bonafide superstar like Wade or Lebron or Kobe.
Thus, Wade, Lebron, etc. ranks pretty high on the "chance to win you a championship" scale. Shaq doesn't. |

I honestly don't like the rest of the roster other than my beloved Ron Artest. SAR is a decent backup, the rest of the team is pretty much trash including Bibby and Miller. |

Abdur Rahim blows, dude. His +/- on that team are horrible. Miller and Bibby are much better.
Agreed though.. SAC needs to blow it up. |

I never understood the Salmons signing. I know we didn't get it right at all with Bonzi and Bonzi is overweight and not very productive in Houston, but he's exactly the player we need. This year is so blah.
So many stupid picks such as Garcia and Douby the last 2 years in the first round. We really need some help inside, they just haven't done anything. |

[/ QUOTE ] Basically I view sports as "championship or nothing." The Kings, as constructed, rank lowly because while they have a few decent pieces, they have practically no shot to truly contend, and they'll probably be just good enough to not get a high draft pick and to have to tie up cap space with those good but not great players they have. Honestly, what odds would you give the Kings of winning an NBA title in the next 10 years? You could offer me 100-1 and I still don't know if I'd consider that a great bet. |

[/ QUOTE ] Well they do have a great bunch of owners, a great GM and a great fan base. Things will eventually and probally quickly turn around as quickly as they turned bad. Last year with Bonzi, the Kings were a very good team. This year with injuries, Artest off the court, and Bibby's regression we haven't been that good on top of losing Bonzi. |

Basically I view sports as "championship or nothing." [/ QUOTE ] Why? Are you saying that being a fan of, say, Dallas during the past 6 years has been equally as enjoyable as being a fan of Atlanta? I think being a consistent contender beats the hell out of being a lottery team even if you never win it all. |
