Re: RAP FANS
Eminem songs are so annoying as hell. I admit he has some good songs but the majority of them he is whining about something or telling his life story.

Re: RAP FANS

But I have yet to hear any album as good as Illmatic. (Midnight Marauders and The Low End Theory by Tribe come close. And I can't believe nobody else is giving tribe the props they deserve.) [/ QUOTE ] I think Reasonable Doubt is better than Illmatic. Listen to it closely. Some of the word-play and metaphor Jay-Z uses will blow your mind. I love Illmatic, and have it about tied with Ready to Die as my 2nd favorite album [ QUOTE ] I havent listened to enough Jay-Z to know for sure where he stands, but any guy who teams up with Linkin Park on an album gets thumbs down from me. I mean, come on. [/ QUOTE ] Linkin Park sucks. They're also one of the top-selling groups of the last decade. Jay-Z is a marketing genius-he didn't even need to write any new songs and probably made millions off this collaboration. That should really have no bearing on how good his music is-it's just good business. |

Re: RAP FANS

the majority of them he is whining about something or telling his life story. [/ QUOTE ] I assumed that it was a huge part of rap to tell your life story. IMO it's far more interesting than just making [censored] up. I guess that's why I have a problem with rappers like Mr. Lif and T9. They just don't seem that interesting. I mean EVERYONE goes through things that separate them from everyone else, but they haven't done anything EXTRAORDINARY. Many of the rappers I like that are considered "commercial" are still hot because they are still talking about their life, but now they are talking about how it's changed for the better "money, cars, women". That's where that comes from. Not that your life becomes perfect when you get rich, (ex. Eminem) but rappers that are stuck in the same tax bracket for rest of their lives are a dime a dozen. IMO rap is about telling your life story from beginning to end. The struggle to come up and everything along the way. Too many "hiphop" acts leave this out, and just rhyme about having skill and being "concious". There's tons of people that have the skills to rap and say slick stuff, but few people really live the life and document the struggle they went through. I'll dig up a Jay-Z freestyle that kind of relates. |
