[ QUOTE ]
I still haven't managed to read Slotboom's book even though I've had it for a month and a half. Is it really advocating buying in for the min? Neither Beset nor I are ever comfortable playing that short and usually buy-in for at least 40% when taking shots. [/ QUOTE ] He mainly talks about live games where a bunch of people played really deep and loose aggro so he would keep getting value with limp reraising and isolation or getting all-in with a good multiway hand and then watch his opponents blow each other off postflop. I think in general his approach was great from a purely making money standpoint but most people will misinterpret his advice ala Ed Miller and SSHE. |

[ QUOTE ] Seriously tho, are there people out there doing this and making a decent profit? I mean i've had 2 -1k days now while playing with just 80 bucks at a time, this doesnt seem normal. This variance just sucks balls [/ QUOTE ] Wtf, I lost 5k in 75 minutes playing 2-4 just last week, you are definitely going to have -12BI swings if you buyin for the minimum. [/ QUOTE ] QFT. Short-stacking is high variance. Is that in the book somewhere? |

Not from what I've seen, he just says how effective it was.
I guess I must have underestimated the variance when I had a good few first days. For those that play fullstack, have you tried this shortstacking and decided its not for you? Also doesnt anyone know if theres a huge difference in expected winrate bewteen fullstacking your normal level or shortstacking say 2 limits higher? |

Well I vastly prefer full stack but at the moment I can only afford to do that up to $200, but I will shortstack $400 and $500 games, and have had roughly 14 PTBB/100 over 3,500 hands at those levels. There is a lot of variance to it, but I've had many triple ups with simple AA vs KK vs KK in the shorthanded games. As long as the players are aggressive and you play clever, you can do very well, but you have to be patient. I generally buy in for $100-$200 on both tables. I've certainly been on an upswing for a good part of those hands, though.

folded top boat today without thinking twice. board Q 7 5 7 5. flop he bet, i raised, he called. turn check-check. river he bet, i raise, he 3-bets, i insta-fold and feel fine about it.
but, later in same session, i lone-ace bluff-raise the river and same guy 3-bets me. i look and, sure enough, straight-flush is possible. could he really have had the super-stones twice??? a-hole. |

This is the worst guy I've ever played.... he dumped about $2500 to me in about half an hour. Complete lagtard. Raised 90% preflop and b/3b/all-in 95% of flops no matter what position, stack size, board, opponents, action in front. His favourite move was betting gutshots w/o pair all-in.

Wow, wazz. Talk about being in the right place at the right time. I found one of those guys last week, although I think it was more monkey tilt than just plain retardedness like the guy you robbed. I took two buyins off him and then he asked to play HU at $1000, which I'd never played before and proceeded to take another 2 buyins off him. Good times.
