Jack,

"I really really don't understand this criticism."

Huh? You don't think that someone who was 10yo in 1996 is going to likely have less emotional attachment to albums from that year than someone who was in, say, high school or college?

If your point is that everyone has their biases, than whatever, I don't think that actually needed to be pointed out, especially in the manner you did (focusing only on one side).

Edit: and if your point is "omg, n00bs just listen to new stuff," then we've already had NT! point that out with loads of condescension.

All,

A lot of these lists, while a lot of great albums, make it pretty clear that a bunch of you were like 10yo in '96.

[/ QUOTE ]

I was 23 in '96 and I have a lot of the same albums as these noobs. I'm just "with it," I guess...

Awaiting a John Tesh #1 on Diablo's list,
MikeNaked

Great lists, I love most of the albums listed. In general, it seems like 2+2 taste is tilited toward indie rock/pop. Some notable omissions that I am fond of:

Missy Elliott, Supa Dupa Fly
Mos Def and Talib Kweli, Black Star
Lucinda Williams, Car Wheels on a Gravel Road
Dance Hall Crashers, Honey I'm Homely

Yeah, he's focusing on the side that's actually relevant for the discussion. There aren't a ton of older posters coming on and making their lists, for the most part.

Also, what's wrong with being 10 years old? I was 10 once, it was pretty cool.

Your post would actually matter if it weren't for the fact that, for the most part, the albums are split evenly between pre-2001 and post-2001.

Unfortunately for you, that's not the case. Using KBZ's list, I went through and added up the mentions counting only those that were mentioned 3+ times (stopping there because it was getting tedious). Overwhelmingly it was pre-2001. In fact, 2000 was the one mentioned most often, tying with 2002. 1996 and 2004 were also tied.

So.. yeah.
