Question about the previously announced Gaming Associates audit.....is that still going through?

Or has it been put on the shelf by the KGC and instead AP chose to have two guys fall on swords rather than give the independent auditors the keys to the castle and possibly unearth more incriminating stuff?

PS: Nat, check your PM's.

N,

"Two people will be implicated here, you can probably guess who. One is going to be removed from online poker forever and one is going be removed for a fair amount of time."

This is, of course, pretty much totally meaningless.

I assume they'll be receiving some level of income via shell companies, but I believe they will be removed from immediate access and daily decision-making power.

[/ QUOTE ]

Isn't this exactly what they have had for a while. I mean they have so insulated themselves with corporate veils that we still don't know who to [censored] owns Absolute, do we? Hell, Tom may be in Panama and day to day tactical decisions were already being made by god knows who while the strategic decision of being a rogue poker site was made by the Frat crew. imo

How does one become "removed from online poker"?

By the KGC as I understand it.

And this is their what, first, official act. wow

Edit: I guess that they offered/promised to pay for GA's audit on Absolute...and they passed gaming regulations last week, I think. So maybe 3rd official act. See Lori's sticky in Internet Gambling.

Implicating 2 higher ups is more than I was expecting...and a bit of a turnaround from where things looked to be headed only a few hours ago.

Great news, but...this is a big turnaround. Seems like someone was leaning on them pretty heavy. Could the audit that KGC and GA had in mind been a really scary picture for AP / ie risk exposing other shady practices?

At first I though KGC and GA might not be trustworthy because they'd lose revenue if they lose AP..but then I started thinking what they stand to gain if intense auditing became the norm in the industry...They may indeed have played very tough with absolute.

I think that's reasonable.

If one were using GoToMyPC to remotely access a computer at Scott Tom's house, or anwhere else, actions performed by the remotely accessed PC would have the IP of that PC, not the PC initiating the GoToMyPC session.

[/ QUOTE ] I would think you need to access the computer to install GoToMyPC, so I would be more inclined to believe in some sort of trojan that could be implanted remotely.

[/ QUOTE ]

The Gotomypc could be setup for a legitimate reason and then left available.

Not that a gotomypc angle makes sense, just saying.

The story I heard about Scott not necessarily *knowing* about the cheating was from a confidential source within the company. He is not at the level that he'd be involved in these types of discussions though.

The 2nd thing came from Russ Hamilton.

I'm going to guess the 2nd thing is right.
