[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] janice is just like her mother - even though she claims she's not, she right away said something incredibly livia-like (forget what that was). etc. [/ QUOTE ] I can't remember the exact words, but something along the lines of "And do I ever get any thanks for it?" [/ QUOTE ] this reminds me that i also liked the part with aj talking to carmela at the dinner table, wearing a wife beater, robe, gold chain and saying "always with the drama." mirror image of tony. [/ QUOTE ] Livia used to always say that. Last thought, this ending will be misunderstood and panned right along the lines of "The Test Dream" episode. Maybe after some of you rewatch it or let the scene marinate in your subconscious for a while it will resonate. gg Sopranos [/ QUOTE ] yeah, you're right. tony has said it a few times, so i guess he got it from her and aj got it from him (or partially from her as well). |

Re: Sopranos Season Finale Discussion
agree that tony died
it seems like so many sopranos viewers watch the show bored out of their minds waiting for the next person to get killed. and when someone gets killed its always satisfying, no matter how loved the character was. well, chase found a way to make everyone feel empty when tony died. |

Re: Sopranos Season Finale Discussion
I liked the ending a lot. A lot of tension, similar to a scene in Boogie Nights. Nothing happened, but no matter how it ended short of Tony dying would have pleased the masses.
This episode had a decent amount of LOL moments(the cat, Paulie, the black kid throwing up, the FBI agent). A solid final season. I really liked it. Now I only have one season of The Wire left. So sad. |

Re: Sopranos Season Finale Discussion
it doesn't matter if tony got killed - he's already dead in a very real sense. if this wasn't conveyed by the entirety of the episode, i don't know. the only thing that suggests he has much life to him at all was the final scene.

Re: Sopranos Season Finale Discussion
the ending is a crafted jolt to the viewers. i can understand people standing on "that ending sucked", i can understand people being struck and then going on to accept or like or love it. but to say it's perfect within seconds of the credits rolling seems like you're skipping over the mourning phase. how can you say something was great despite difficulty if you never actually internalized the difficulty? it's like everyone wants to be the first to "get it".
