I feel like this is something that will a non-issue with more than, say, 30 minutes of practice, especially the "tactile feedback" complaint. You didn't start typing 60 wpm immediately, did you?

[/ QUOTE ]

i pretty much did. i had more mistakes initially from the predictive features, but my raw button pressing speed hasn't gone up much. the blackberry's interface is very very good.

Al -

This seems like a positive to me w/ re: to typing:

I typed a couple of e-mail messages with lots of typos but eventually 100 percent accuracy, thanks to this auto-correct feature.

CE - yeah it's hard to tell without using it, but I'm not super optimistic as TD mentioned, BB interface is great.

KBZ - maybe AAPL will come out with a modified iPhone addressing enterprise market if this gen doesn't fit the bill. Or next-gen of iPhone will be so awesome it won't make a difference.

any guesses on how much Cisco is going to rape Apple for?

Cisco sues Apple for iPhone trademark infringement

if there is one thing you can always count on Apple for, it is pissing away their shareholders profits with stupid decisions.

Probably not much if it goes to court or gets resolved in the next 6 months... I think they'd have a hard time proving harm.

As of yesterday it sounded like negotiations had been ongoing, an offer was on the table, and Cisco expected Apple to sign the deal. Apparantly Apple did not sign the deal. That apple did not wrap this up before yesterday's debut is mind-boggling. Either:
a) They don't care about wasting money in a legal battle
or
b) They thought Cisco would say, "Oh well, nevermind. We'll change our phone name."

Either one is retarded.

All the questions about the touch screen may prove pointless if the multi-touch interface is effective as some claim. My big hope is that they consider putting the new 12 GB flash chips in it and upgrade the wireless support to HSPDA.

Dude you're not going to get any respect in the boardroom with a trendy iPhone. You'd better stick to the classic Zach Morris Style phone, or maybe one of the original StarTac ones if you end up at a small boutique firm with a zany MD.

I really don't see the big deal. They put a touchscreen only on this device (I guess it needs it for web browsig), added a few more gigs of flash memory and charge $400 more than other PDA/Phones? Things like the Treo have card slots, you can put a big honking SD card in there if you want it... this thing isn't going to replace any Ipods for anyone that has one already- it's not small like the Nano, nor does it have the capacity of the HD players... I just think it's kinda meh... and it does not seem to be priced competitively if it's going to be $500-$600 after signing the carrier contract- not sure if that's the case or if there will be some discount....

One, Apple stock has more than doubled in the last 2 years. Two, Cisco is going to make next to nothing. A couple million, maybe. The value isn't in the name.
