taking a player that has 2 MVPs over a player that has none would be a more apt comparison, but I bet it'd be hard to find.

Also, while we're using silly logic like Victor....how many times has Stockton been the best player on his own team?

dirk >>> nash > kobe imo. I think dirk should have won it last year too though.

you can make a pretty good case for Marion>Nash last year, and Amare is very close this year

I would give it to Kobe but theres no way Dirk is not winning it this year.

His points per shot including 2 fts as an attempt is extremely good.

Nobody draws more attention in doubles and tripples than him and gets his teammates wide open 3 pointers more than Kobe.

And his defense is superior to that of Nash and Dirk.

I put some down on Kobe at 4/1, so here's hoping he wins it.

Dirk should though.

[/ QUOTE ]

Put some on me? I'll give 6 to 1 Kobe does NOT win mvp.

[/ QUOTE ]
Why do you think he won't win it. Because he doesn't deserve to win it doesn't mean he won't.
edit: I'm not sure I really think he'll win it either. But Dirk was at 1/5, and that's no fun.

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't think kobe deserves to win. It also doesn't help his MVP chances considering how everyone turned into a kobe-hater.

Kobe is individually talented. He fails to understand the big picture (maybe cuz he never went to college). Phil Jackson can only do so much on the bench. As a result, the Lakers suffer. The lakers will never become a .700 team that Dallas, Spurs, Suns are in the next three years.

So why should Kobe be rewarded an MVP if his team isn't a legit contender.

I'll also lay 2:1 odds that the lakers do not make it out of the first round.

[/ QUOTE ]

Dude, his team sucks! Its not his fault. The Lakers will absolutely become a .700 team if Bynum continues to improve and Odom stays healthy.

[/ QUOTE ]

You think Laker's will get 58 wins in a season? Hmm make a bet for next year? 2:1 odds in your favor. Willing to wager up to 1k.

[/ QUOTE ]I don't think its even remotely close, as I think Nash has had MVP like seasons while those guys have had top 20 or maybe top 10(and thats being very very generous) type seasons. But I don't really wish to debate it.

where the hell did I say they'd get 58 wins next year? I said that if Bynum continues to improve and Odom stays healthy. Bynum is the youngest player in the league- I'd say give him at least 2 more years. If he does that, then in 2 years from now(end of 2008-2009 season) I think the Lakers will be legit contenders.
