I don't get how people are so affected by a celebrity's death. It's completely baffling to me.

While I mostly agree with this sentiment, there's something about wrestling that makes it different. The performers bond with the audience to a degree that is beyond any other form of entertainment. While they're playing characters, you really get to know that person to a degree every week. And this guy in particular was one of the hardest working, most technically proficient performers that I've seen. It's pretty tragic. In a way I don't really even want to know what happened.

QFT.

Celeb deaths that made me really sad.

Phil Hartman.

This.

That's about it. I'm usually as callous as anybody, but this one hurts.

I'm right with you here. I flipped through the channels last week and saw him perform on the Smackdown broadcast. He was one of my favorite wrestlers.

It's more than the celebrity death - it's his whole family that died that gets me...

I cant believe this. He was on TV a week ago. I just got home and I'm just stunned.

For those who don't really follow wrestling, he was a real class act as well as a talented performer. He spent most of his career held down by wrestling politics.

Edit: And now every wrestling site I can think of is down.

I have a feeling he may have been dead for a day or two.....He no showed a show a couple of days ago aside from missing the PPV last night.

[/ QUOTE ]

He supposedly called WWE late yesterday to cancel his PPV appearance.

[/ QUOTE ]

If he no showed the PPV, which I doubt, WWE should have known something was really wrong. Benoit was probably going to win the ECW title last night. WWE even announced last night that Benoit had a family emergency and was being replaced in the match.

On a selfish note, 3 hours of Benoit matches makes for the best Raw in a long time.

Yes. A different kind of hurt, but then not only does it suck that he's dead, but also that he was [censored] in the head or whatever.

I remember the good old days, when a chair shot was the end of the argument. I guess since the Sopranos are off the air, Razor Ramon just whacked his entire family. I would also focus the investigation on Bad News Brown.
