It is good to raise these hands preflop if we didn't raise his limps a lot in the past. That way we don't suffer a limp reraise with a beatiful suited connector. I don't remember Hero raising his limps before so this might be a spot to do it. I wouldn't do it, because I don't know if the guy is a calling station or not.

If we take the aggressive line preflop, we have to make a c bet. But in limped pot, this is a c/f because of his limping range. I am also surprised how often I get a call from a high card here which makes it even more of a c/f.

raise preflop??? how often do you raise these kinds of hands oop preflop?

[/ QUOTE ]
Not often by any means, but definitely occasionally, and the way the play had been going, this hand seemed like a good spot to do it in.

And if somebody is showing a tendency to limp fairly often, but also appears to be willing to fold preflop, then I tend to start attacking those limps with a pretty wide range of hands.

Like I said when the hand first came up, it might be a mistake, but I would have raised, and at least tried to give some reasoning about why.

Good stuff about the raising the sc's oop guys. I should probably incorporate this a little more often into my game against certain opponents.

Thats a good point--this is a great flop to exploit a passive, tight image by potting it.

i know most of you hate typing in your bet sizes, but betting 2/3-3/4 pot will usually have the same effect as a pot-size bot in these small pots. it will save you a lot of chips in the long run.

10/20 blind level - limped pot is 40 - usually lead 30
15/30 blind level - limped pot is 60 - usually lead 40-45
25/50 blind level - limped pot is 100 - usually lead 65-80

A min-bet is proficient to do the trick in an un-raised pot. A pot sized bet is the worst option.
