mainly the media keeps saying this stupid one that needs to stop: "He's already been tried in the Court of Public Opinion ."

I understand this one and why they say it but it just sounds so pseudo-intellectual/cheesy and it seems like they try to work it into the segment anytime Vick comes up (or whomever).

On NFL Live just now, Trey Wingo, talking about Larry Johnson, said something like:

"And remember, the year after a guy has 460 or more carries, he NEVER has as good of a year the next year."

Ummm...yeah dude, go figure, the year after he has a ridiculous amount of carries (and therefore likely a ridiculous amount of yards and TDs) he never has a career year the next year. And what does NEVER mean? How many guys have had that many carriers (460 made up, I cant remember exactly what he said)? If its like 50 guys, and NONE of them have EVER had another career year right after, then it might be a legit point. If its like 4 guys ever?

just on the morning news in nyc
Newcaster is talking about the mets collapse. He says he will interview people on the street later and ask them who they think will win the NL East (let me guess a whole bunch of mets mans saying "you gotta believe")
Then he says for what its worth he thinks the mets will win it because the Phillies are the first professional sports team to lose 10,000 games. Brilliant.

Well, duh. It's hard to get the momentum going when guys like Chase Utley and Aaron Rowand are in the locker room for hours before the game discussing losses from 92 years ago.

Yeah, and I mean, Cholly Manuel only was around for 6000 of those losses.

From early in Joe Morgan's broadcasting career:

"There is no such thing as a great player on a bad team."

So, (dating myself here) he's saying Ernie Banks sucked? Or when Steve Carlton went 27-5 on a last place team he wasn't great?

McCarver said he asked Stats Inc if it was more likely to have a mulit-run inning with a leadoff walk than a leadoff HR. Yes, he did.

He was 'shocked' to find out a leadoff HR leads to more multirun innnigs as 'that is the CW.' Partner agreed [prolly to get him to shut up.]
